A few of my friends and I tried Weight Watchers about 1 1/2 years ago. I lost 27 pounds in about 5 months. I have kept that weight off and lost an additional 5 pounds in the past year. It is truly a lifestyle change.
The Weight Watchers program I used was their "Flex" program. This is where you have a certain number of points to use each day and then have 35 "flex" points to use during the week. My friends and are all all young, so my flex points went to drinking and eating out on weekends. As an example, 1 light beer is 2 points.
I will say that for the first couple of months, I found myself obsessing over points. This was really due to me learning the process. Now, I know the point values of so many foods that it comes naturally to me to eat healthy.
I definitely recommend Weight Watchers. Just be careful with the drinking as you start losing weight. You'll be surprised at how the weight loss changes the way alcohol affects you!
Good luck! :)
p.s. There is a website called dietfacts.com that shows nutritional information for many brands of food (including restaurant meals). Weight Watchers points are listed at the bottom of the nutritional information.
When I first started Weight Watchers, I was allowed 22 points per day. Once I fell below a certain weight, I was only allowed 20 points per day (just to give you an idea).

100 percent weight watchers. Its not hard to follow, and the reason there is a points system is to make sure you only have the right amount of saturated fat and calories.Theres nothing you
cannot eat or drink, in moderation, which is healthy, and none of the 'eat meat on a Tuesday and veg on a Wednesday' nonsense. Its simple and effectI've-ive lost 2 and a half stones. All weight watchers really is, is sensible eating and doing regular exercise, and you DONT put all the weight back on, as someone suggested, unless you cheat yourself. With Weight Watchers you should aim only to loose 2lb per week at the most, because, if the weight comes of slower and more regular you've a much better chance of achieving your goal.Loosing half a stone a week isn't the way.Good luck.

Definately Slimming World. I lost 6 stone with them 4 years ago and have managed to keep it off. Its the best 'healthy eating plan' ever. No weighing, no denying yourself. You can eat more or less what you want within reason. The support from the class consultant and the other members was first class. I highly recommend it.
I've been to Weight watchers and couldn't be doing with all the weighing and the 'points' system. There was never enough to eat.

Hey, I would recommend slimming world, my mum went, and although I never went to the meetings i ate what she ate and lost 3lbs a week, I was only 10 stone and 5 foot 6 so not over weight but it was easy to lose! That was about 2 years ago and i am still 9stone. Its great cos you can eat loads and loads. you get 10 -15 sins a day and there are about 6 in a choccy bar or glass of wine. Basically you are cutting out the fat amd not mixing carbs and protein to much.

Has to be Weight watchers.
I joined WW with about 35lbs too lose (2 and a half stone). I joined in September 06. I have lost 33.5 lbs (just under 2.5 stone). I have found it very easy to follow. WW to 2 kind of diets, there is points which is what I do, there is also 'core plan'.
If you go to the ww web site you can print a voucher so you can get your registration for free.
