Keep it serious please. ;-)

I'm a student of the bible and I would like the opinions of others in this forum so I can check it out. I don't care what your background is, I would really like to know what questions you have about the christian doctrine that you find silly.

I'm looking for good questions and not statements like its all crap - while it is your belief, it is not mine. The basic assumption for me is the bible is true.

Well, rock on!

Most of it. Much of it was obviously derived from earlier superstitions and myth. The New Testament was written decades after Jesus died, if he existed at all. All of it generally reflects obsolete worldviews.

I sense that this is an honestly asked question, so I'll spare the long winded and aggressive answer.

Simply put: I question the messiahship of Jesus of Nazareth, because, if one reads the New Testament and compares it to the Messianic Prophecies in the Old Testament, Jesus fails many of them.

The Covenant Messiah was to be an utter end to sin -- not just atonement of sin, but the destruction of sin. With his coming, sin would cease to exist.

The Covenant Messiah was to bring world peace or come at a time of world peace (there is some debate on this even in Jewish circles). There has never been such a period in recorded history.

The Covenant Messiah was to oversee the rebuilding of the Temple. The Second Temple stood during the entirety of Jesus's life and wasn't destroyed until a generation later.

The Covenant Messiah was to resolve the Diaspora and finally reunite all Jews with their homeland. Since the Babylonian Captivity, the Jews have not once resolved the Diaspora.

You may find more information than this (including the relevant verses) at http://www.jewsforjudaism.org/

I hope this has properly conveyed my genuine intent to avoid aggression, if not, I apologize up front.

My largest question above all is what relevance the old testament has for Christians. I think Jesus established a new covenant with people which supercedes the old testament, basically rendering the old testament something on the category of cultural history of the jewish people, and not a book to be used for teaching Christians. And yet, the 10 commandments, which no Christian has totally thrown out, are in there, and we accept them as part of the basis of our faith. And there are many moral lessons contained in the old testament. But there's a lot of irrelevent old jewish law about sequestering women during menstruation, and how to clean a house made unclean by mildew, and a lot of weird stuff like that, the relevance of which I doubt.

A lot of Christians will still invoke lines like "an eye for an eye." I think that is clearly confused and wrong. But I wonder if old teaching, pre-Jesus teaching, has any relevance for Christians.

there is one man made custom that almost of of the Christians are united under. it is Sunday worship. Revelation 14:6,7,12 let us know that God is making a international extensive call to worship Him using fact the author. Genesis 2:a million-3 and Exodus 20:8-11 help to make clean the thank you to worship the author God. Revelation 22:14 tells us who will bypass into the city of God and consume of the tree of existence. Jesus went to the temple on the Sabbath as His habit became into. the only commandment that starts off with the be conscious keep in mind, is the single that no one retains, because it fairly is not a ethical regulation. Excuse me, yet while did worshiping God exchange into immoral. Christian skill Christ like. The warfare in Heaven with devil, became into over God's regulation, that's His character. The warfare is reported in Revelation 11:7-12. be conscious in verse 17 who devil fairly hates, and why. woman represents a sort of worship. Isaiah 14:12-17 tells extra of devil's fall. Our characters that we are forming now, coach if we are able to have confidence God at His be conscious, to stay with Him for an eternity. Sin and insurrection will by no skill upward push up a deliver time.

I not only question, but fail to see any validity in:

The divinity of Jesus, and his status as the literal son of God.
The Bible as the infallible word of God.
The idea that Man is inherently sinful.
The idea that salvation must be earned.
Jesus's "sacrifice" as atonement for our sins.

That covers most, if not all, of the major doctrines, so I usually just say I reject the whole thing. I believe Jesus was an enlightened mortal man whose words were misinterpreted and twisted, becoming the basis for a very bizarre religion.

I question the doctrines that churches have extracted from the main Doctrine to state this is the doctrine we base our belief.

A true denomination would not extract from the main Doctrine to create their own. That is subtracting from God's ONE and ONLY Doctrine.

There is nothing silly in God's Holy Word. If the Christian denominations.. all of them... would hand out God's Doctrine instead of pamphlets.. I think Christianity would be seen in a new light.

Instead of selling the Bible for profit, hand them out... free as it should be... I think there would be more apt to read the Word of God.

When man starts adding their two cents to God's Word, it takes away what the Word of God says.

I question the part in Revelation where it says, God has reserved 7000 men who have not bent the knee, or (defiled) themselves with (woman). I question whether, "defiled' was in the original in relation to women. The three words interpreters interchange at thier will is, (Women/Isreal/Church), they all mean the same thing. The Biblical Church of God. So the church is a woman, though men will keep that hidden from you, and tell you it is a material church. But the church of God is not carved out with human hands. It is flesh and blood. I guess people will have to pin the Vatican down if they want answers.

I respect your beliefs although they are not ones which I can share. My main problem with christianity is not the message which is in most cases be a good person. It is the corruption of a good message into the organised religions of this world. I think that the message has been used in a number of ways over the centuries to subjugate and dominate people. I hope that your faith brings you comfort and encourage you to pursue it, but please do not be close minded and stop questioning the world around you.

The Bible is true, eh?

Can you prove that we have a soul? That God Created everything? That there is a Heaven or Hell? That Noah's Ark existed? That a global flood occurred? That Jesus existed? That the Moon is a light as stated in Genesis?

All these require proof and there is ZERO evidence backing any of it up. So is the Bible still true?

Here ... Question this!

The Way = Homelessness

Jesus says "Foxes have holes in the earth and birds of the air have nests in the trees, but the Son of man has no where to lay His head."

The Truth = The "Money" Changers

Jesus drove out of the Temple or His Father's House and "said, why have you turned my Father's house into a den of thieves."

The Life = Spirit

Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit only says the Lord

If you have none of these in your possession, then you have not denied yourself.

Hi. I question all of them, but usually to the result of believing. I think it's good to question and decide for your self rather than blindly accepting, it results in a stronger faith. As far as what parts I dissagree with? I don't think the Bible is current, I think it was intended for previous times, and can be interpretted more loosely now. Also, I strongly dissagree with people who believe in a wrathfull God. I believe that an omnipotent God surely is very understanding of our shortcomings as humans.
