In all honesty guys, I understand that mistakes are made in wars but I think you have to concede, the number of mistakes made in this war are probably not going to be reversed. That's the entire reason why wars are lost...too many mistakes get made. Not to mention, we're still making mistakes. If you're a real military man, you have to ask yourself, if you're going to try to win this thing, balls to the wall... why would you only send an additional 20,000 more troops. Wouldn't it be appropriate to send an overwhelming force of let's say 70 - 100,000 more troops? Sorry, it's just another dumb mistake, and they're not going to stop. It's a matter of competence.

To Rick D: OK, you're right. but why did Bush put us in that position? If Bush is the decider as he puts it, why did he allow our troops to be so restarined in fighting this war...isn't he the commander in chief and ultimately responsible?

The good Admiral isnt the only one saying naughty things about the lies that were told, the conspiricy with the big oil corporates, The hideous miscalculations made by the 'new christian right' in telling President Bush, and Prime ministers Blair and Howard to 'Go for it"!..Many military people, quite senior officers are now standing up in Britian and Australia and telling the truth for the first time!..And now "Stun..Shock..Horror!"..Its happening in the good ol' USA!..And you cant censor them all..Try though Fox and certain "shock jocks" may!..They tried to kill free speech in America..And they have FAILED!..More and more military people are going to stand up and be counted on this one, And we will all learn that it is not the combined military forces who lost this one!..Its the greedy incompetant stupid money hungry Corporates who started it but couldnt finish it!..Halliburton rules!..

I'm not sure what planet you have been on the last few years, it obviously was not this one. Just where is it you think we would get these 100,000 new troops?
Miscalculation #1 Even going to war in Iraq.
#2 Thinking the minority Sunni's would take Saddams removal lying down. People PLEASE!! These two factions have been killing each other for 1400 years and all of a sudden they are gonna kiss and make up because we show up?
#3 Thinking Syria and Iran would stand by and do nothing.
#4 America re-elects (and I use the term loosely since he didnt win the first election) the biggest buffoon to hold the office of President in the last 100 years...maybe in its entire history.

yes there was a big miscalculation, how much foreign involvement was going on, we should have secured the borders with Syria and Iran so that nothing or no one of intrest could have been allowed to escape, and every inch of the Russian truck convoys inspected, and we wouldn't keep hearing this "no WMDs" nonsense. They also mistakenly assumed that the Iraqis themselves would settle in peacefully, while most want to, look at this "Army Of Heaven" composed of both sunni and shiites who wanted to wipe out the shiite leadership, (and probably have been attacking sunnis sites too) these are "end times" nutjobs who want to bring on the end of the world, and their religion doesn't prevent them from killing their own when neccesary, I don't think anyone saw them coming, and the Iran nutjob is promising his version of the mahdi to arrive on the spring equinox, and bring Jesus with him as a footstool. And how deep the Russians and Chinese are mixed into this, not just because they are standing behind whoever is causing the US (and UN) headaches, or the usual trying out their new toys against ours, because they want to control the oil because they know whoever does will control the world. the wild card is Saudi and Iranian oilfields have far fewer reserves than they claim, and countries like Isreal and Turkey, that they hate, have struck new oilfields. People who say it's all about the oil is right, they just don't understand who has it and who wants it. And the best part is, Nixon warned us in 1974 to end our dependence on Middle East oil, we didn't listen. After nimbys and enviromentalists shut down energy projects to help avoid a energy crunch, we saw the worst (manufactured) shortage/crisis yet, but we are getting set up for another one. Get ready for it.

War is War on the battle Fields changes happen DAILY. You can miscalculate some days and others are dead on. If you go to battle the one thing that military leaders know is this "IN WAR YOU HAVE TO BE FLEXIBLE FOR CHANGE AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT" Statement from the War College Birmingham Alabama

I am a real military man and I can tell you are not. When you start adding 10s of thousands of troops you have to start figuring out how to feed them get them water, shelter, ammo, transportation. So you see you add your so called 100,000 more troops what kind of logistics is going to be needed to make this happen, think before you spout off about what you now nothing of!

Nope I think we miscalculated the war, by being all mushy...
We should have dealt with these terrorists immediately.
They are not insurgents when they kill innocent women and
children. Our military has been operating with more restrictions then our local police. This needs to stop, the bad guys need to be rounded up and dealt with, hopefully they will all get killed in fire fights. They already have learned we dont run, they cannot go toe to toe against our military so they target women and children.
They are cowards.. What Bush is doing with Iran he should have done 3 years ago. I would have carpet bombed the border. They are sending weapons and fighters into Iraq to kill. You liberals cry about putting panties on the heads of prisoners, college frat parties are far worse. You cry over Gitmo while they eat better and live better than Sailors on ships or Marines in the desert. These oranges would slit your childrens throat while you watched and beg, not me...I won't beg...they are dead if they come near me. You cannot appease the enemy, the bully, you have to kick his butt so hard he knows to leave you alone..that's life, the hard cold reality. What about recently capturing 4 of our soldiers and shooting them in the head execution style. While 2 of them were handcuffed together. Where was the condemnation from the liberals no where, instead they protest left over hippies from the 60's, gutless, spineless works of art. Don't even think about appeasing the enemy giving my Country away it's not going to happen. You love them so much move over there see how long you last. They are cowards, when they come here blowing stuff up, perhaps the liberals will want to do something beside coddle them appease them.

God Bless Our Troops
Allah blesses our troops also...

Death to all terrorists

..... The U.S. did miscalculate Iraq, clearly. Otherwise they wouldn't have rushed Bush out to an aircraft carrier hanging a banner that says 'Mission Accomplished'. That little event looks a little foolish in hindsight, doesn't it? Just because someone says the US made a mistake doesn't make them a traitor, or a liberal.

If they wanted to "win" they would have used unrelenting air power and other methods. That, however, would not have protected the oil fields. The real Q. is win what? There are so many "stories" about why we were in there in the first. place.
And let's remember, who is dying...and who is making all that revenue off the oil & defense contracts. Check out War Profiteers - they're all about protecting that Republican "base."

Not sure where u are going with this question. But any nit-wit can see that things are not spectacular in Iraq right not. We did miscalculate. It's a fact. Saying that does not make u a liberal.

Congress lets Fallon talk so that Fallon to overshadow Patraeus on the political part of their job as an admiril/general... Dem's know that Gen. Pat. is right with his plan on Iraq (the one Bush is trying to pass) but they dont want any1 else to know that they feel that way.

Miscalculate, is the polite version, the man is very tactful.

What he meant to say is that someone fell asleep in high school social studies.

Sure they are going to welcome our way of life with open arms ROFL
