No he's not putting you down. Nor is he trying to offend you. What your pastor is saying is that, Faith without works is dead. If you are believing God for a job you must act on your Faith and go out and apply for different jobs. Does that make sense?
So there is no need to get offended, he was just sharing with you a principle in the Bible.

I don't think he meant any harm by his statement but he was insensitive. (I doubt, mind you, that he himself was ever in a situation where he was out of work.)

Many ministers are not in tune with the real world outside of the church or their own seminary training or the world of their own family life.

I just prayed for you to get a job.

P.S. Now you know why people say clergymen sometimes make the poorest counselors. How would you like that guy as an employment counselor? No thank you.

Not knowing thw whole situation he is saying we have to be doing all we can - not just in seeking a job but in all things, and then God can work so much more. He is giving helpful advice and I hope you can receive it that way.
If we are home waiting for the phone to ring (and I am not saying that is the case!) it probably won't if we have not taken time to do the things that is going to a make it ring. The more contacts we make, resumes we get out, etc. the more our chances increase, and he can connect us to where he wants us if have done that.
It is God being with us, working with us, that causes great things to happen.
Blessings, and I will pray for that job for you.

just continue to look for a job, and when you do, you will know the job that God has for you. Not knowing your pastor I do not know his intentions, but it sounds like to me, that he is just saying, while waiting for that right job to come along, keep looking. Seek and you shall find. Hopefully your pastor and church are praying for you as you seek. I do not think you are expecting God to drop a job in your lap. God bless, and may the Lord bless you as you continue looking.

No he is not putting you down. God isnt just going to have someone call you up and say we have a job for you. Put in applications at different places and ask God to open the door for the right job.

No he is right...if you need a job you need to go out and fill out some applications and give out your resume if your laying in bed waiting for an employer to call you your never going to find a job.

You know that the Bible says that if you don't work you shall not eat??

I don't think he meant any harm. The advice is good although it could be interpreted to say that he is assuming you're not looking. Obviously that's an incorrect assumption. If it troubles you enough, you might want to bring it up just so resentment doesn't fester.

I think you missed the lesson he was trying to teach you. Why not go and talk with him ? Or you understood the lesson perfectly and now just want to appear clever. Either way you won't find work if you don't go out looking for it. I hope you find a job you can enjoy.

He's basically telling you that God wants you to work on your own and rely on your own strengths to get what you want. You can't just leave it completely up to God, otherwise you'd be sleep walking through the best parts of life.

He is not putting you down, maybe being a little insensitive. He means you must try to find work yourself and God will help you.
