They will remember you-don't worry. Hopefully, you have done lots of research on the particular "doggy boot camp" you are leaving them with though.

Why are you sending them to boot camp?

If they are not behaving the way you want them to, YOU must be training with them. More than half of training is teaching the HUMAN what to do.

I have found the most important thing about training a dog is learning to communicate with them and bond with them. Having a stranger teach them the rules is NOT going to improve communication or the bond between you.

A stranger taking your dogs for 22 days and training them is a short term solution and in the long term will not provide the same benefits as you training WITH them. Sure, go to a trainer. But you should be training too.

So will they remember you? Yes, but you will have missed out on an opportunity

All that being said, if by "boot camp" you really meant you have to kennel them, that's a different story. Kennel them someplace where they can play and have fun together and they'll be happy to see you when you get them back, but it will be okay.

Hope this helps.

Sure they'll remember you-You're the one that lets them get by with whatever they want.
Training is a bonding experience as well as one that shows the dog who is boss.No one should be training your dogs but YOU unless you want them to bond with a stranger.
Send them to camp if you feel the need to waste your money. When the dogs come back they won't act any better than they do now for you because you know the commands but not how they were given.Tone and body language are as important as the actual command.
I can tell my dogs to sit and they will.Someone else tells them and they look at them in confusion.
When your dogs return from camp they'll let you know in no uncertain terms their absolute contempt at being shipped off to a place where they had to mind and do as they were told but they'll be really happy to see you.
If I were you I'd hire a trainer who'll come to you. They call it dog training but the people are the ones who need to be taught how to handle the dog.Not the other way around.

First, why would you have to ship them off to a doggie boot camp? Why not look in your Yellow Pages of the phone book under Dog Obedience schools/training. This is where you go with your dog(s). The very first rule: YOU ARE THE BOSS! They must learn to obey YOU, not do as they please, and you cater to them---this isn't the way it works to have a well-behaved dog. Yes, if you do ship them off anywhere, they WILL remember you--unless, you have abused these animals, then they are likely to take a fancy to someone else who treats them better, and they may ignore you-even run from you. You are the only one who knows if you've abused these dogs, and if you have, I sincerely hope they find a better home.

Why doggie boot camp? It's not the best method of training. What I recommend is to hire a trainer to come to your home and train with you and your dogs in their environment. They will address your specific needs and special requests. I've done my research on group training, priviate training, and boot camps and home trainers. Home trainers are by far the best.

BUT if you're sending them to boot camp - yes they will remember you. And after the experience they will love you more than ever. They will be a bit clingy and needy for a while too.

Consider getting the home trainer!

Good Luck

Why doggy boot camp? what are the dogs doing that you need to go the extreme?
If you are able I would go visit your dogs with in two weeks of boot camp and bring something from home so they can sleep on it.
Dogs never for get they will always remember who hurts them and who loves them.
Good luck with the boot camp

Don't worry, they'll remember you. Keep in mind that they may display a behavior (such as messing in the house or throwing up) to let you know what happens when you leave them meanwhile they will be giving you kisses. Before we moved to NY, we have kenneled our dogs or left them with family for up to a week at a time on a couple of occasions. Since we got here, we have had to board them twice (during the holidays). Both times, both our dogs pooped inside as if to say 'don't leave us again, but we forgive you'. Just give them a couple days to readjust.

Why are you sending them to "boot camp"? I'm presuming to correct bad behaviour that you didn't when they were young. Dogs need to know who is pack leader...that should be you. They probably won't associate you with being disciplined at "camp" but unless you keep it up at home their bad behaviour will be back. I wouldn't send my animals ANYWHERE that I feel they would be mistreated, why are you sending yours away to what you refer to as "boot camp"? Just wondering.
An acquaintance of mine hit his dog with the vacuum cleaner hose, the dog never overcame his fear of a vacuum, any vacuum. He'd run and hide at just the sound of one. Poor thing.
