Why? If I truly love someone I want to be with him forever. Could you please tell me what is exactly the meaning of it? Thanks!

It means if they have something in their life that will make their future happier and better, and it doesn't involve the other person, best let them go on their way.

Since it is truly better to see them happy, than to be with them and drag them down.

I actually experienced this recently, my girl and i have been on and off for 6 years. we were good for the first 2 but fell off the ball while i was at college for the last 3. when i got back it took about a year to realize being apart wasn't helping either of us. So yeah the reason you let them go may be to show both of you life without the other and if its the path you should be on. but i don't think everybody needs this stage, if things are going great don't worry, stick with him. that saying only counts when a breakup occurs for whatever reason.

it's a way of dealing with a relationship that ends. Or in movie terms, letting the love of your life persue an art career because that's what's good for her. But in the end the guy always ends up chasing her down, so in my opinion the line's a bunch of crap that poets say to each other to get over heartbreak. Keep him forever.

Just make sure that you have received as much humiliation as could be before letting go... you know... kind of convince yourself that you have given your possible best but still no response.
Its kind of funny, that true love never gives up... so, when the humiliation gets unbearable or the chase starts to get frustrating, I don't know, but somehow, someway, you will know.
If you hit the spot, just at the point when you are about to give up, you will receive your positive response. Good luck...

That's a greatly-misunderstood idea that in actuality says that if you truly love YOUR CHILDREN, you have to let them grow up and let them go...out into the world to make their own way, independent of you. After all, they will outlive you,and must be capable of taking care of themselves once you no longer can.

If your relationship has problems in it that seem to not be able to be resolved, then, let them go, if they return, they really do want the relationship to work! Sometimes that's what it takes to make or break a relationship.

only in the movies, then they always come back. come back to earth. if they were yours in the first place they wouldnt need to be let go. giving someone the time and "space" they need is one thing but this fantasy of letting them go and they will find their way back if it were meant to be is foolish.

It is an oversimplification. If you love someone you must allow them to recipricate their feelings on their own; not though pressuring them to love you back.

after the chase you imprint yourself on the person, you get used to each other and eventually get into each others hairs, you will need to untangle when things get clusterphobic,if you are meant for each other you will end up together, simple and plain.

tell them that you love them and I think that the saying only goes if you fear love. I think if you love them stay with them, tell them, keep them <3
