4X gets you 20% closer than 3X.

Go here. You can get 10x zoom for not much more money. If they have any kind of optical zoom it will cost you almost as much for 2x as for 5x or 10x.

A lot of people overestimate the difference between 3x and 4x. If you want something for distant objects get 10x with optical stabiliziation like in the cannon s2 is or s3 is. If you just want zoom for cropping then 3 or 4x should do fine.

They are nearly, not quite, too much difference between the two. Depends on how far you will take the picture. They both are not good for real distance. But if you stay within 60 ft you can get what you want.

Look at the price difference and is it worth it too you.

I have 2 canon cameras
one with 3x and one with 4x
really, not much difference
