When I wake, even after 6-8 hrs sleep, I have no balance. I stumble like a drunk. It's almost like my legs refuse to work properly, along with being dizzy. Yesterday, I nearly face-planted into the concrete in my basement bedroom (ouch!) and shortly after recovering, I fell forward into the bookshelf. Today, I fell again, on my way through the kitchen, and would up being stabbed by a stray pencil. I'm just thrilled it wasn't a knife or something lying out. This is really scary, and the last two days aren't the only times, just good examples. I get dizzy other times during the day, but not like this. I also have gotten dizzy while sitting down, for no obvious reason. I have fainted before, as well, but it's been quite a while since that happened. I've been tested for anemia and thyroid problems, but both tests were normal. Any help would be much loved. I also tend to feel "sick" all the time, which is an overall blah feeling more than a definable sickness. Again, any help would be great

My Grandfather had this and he was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor, which was removed in 1946-he died in 1997. The tumor was the size of the lemon. Because of it his equilibrium was off and he stumbled around like he was drunk, only he wasn't. If they cannot find a definitive cause, such as an inner ear infection.I would insist on a CAT scan. You should also be tested for epilepsy.

An inner ear infection will do it. I've had several and have the same problems you describe. Inner ear infections cause the fluid in your inner ear to be off balance causing you to feel dizzy, queasy, and may make you stumble or fall. Sometimes the motions sickness pills help me. Go to the doctor to get an antibiotic.
If you get up to fast sometimes that will cause you to be dizzy until the blood flow balances out in your head. Staring at a computer screen can also make you feel off balance.(for your day symptoms sometimes)

I had this: He's what, by pure accident, cured it:

Unrelated to this, I had blood work done, and they found I was H-Pylori positive. So the MD put me on an antibiotic and lo and behold, it cured the balance in the AM, and I too was doing all I could to hold onto whatever I could so as not to fall.

My MD told me I probably had an inner ear infect unbeknownst to him.

Test for H-pylori, and if positive go ON strong antibiotics. If negative, you still might have an inner ear infection, so go to an ear nose throat MD and get an antibiotic.

I'm not a doctor but I have suffered from dizzy spells related to an inner ear infection after a vacation in Mexico.

Also, get checked for diabetes / low blood sugar.

Most importantly, be careful until you find out. Please post your results when you can. Take care.

Automotive ataxia. This can be caused by a number of different diseases such as: pneumococcus, cystitis, sinusitis syphillus gonoccocus and various tooth, ear and sinus infections. See a doctor, it may also be a case of high blood pressure or a brain tumor.

after you wake up, spend 15-20 minutes masturbating before you actually get out of bed, that wil get the blood flowing and enough oxygen to your brain to function properly, as well as be a great start to your day :-)
