It's not that surprising to those who can't afford it. Many people would have to sell a kidney just for the admission fee.

Dont feel too foolish. I had visited San Francisco and was surprised to know that the family I had been staying hadnt been be able to ride a cable car. They are residents of San Francisco since the 70's.
I had stayed x 2months in San Diego and surprisingly, the couple I had been staying hadnt been able to ride the trolley yet. They even hadnt been to Sea World, San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park. They had been residents of the place x 5 years.
I had met the husband of my cousin who lives almost 20 years of his life in the LA area and yet he hadnt been to Knotts Berry Farm, Disneyland and the California Adventure.
People are so busy that they are so near and yet so far. People from all over the world had been going there but some residents had been passing it and yet you dont go.

It doesn't suprise me. You should save up though and visit sometime! You can stay off property for pretty inexspensive. The Peacock Inn & Suites are located just down the street and they are a great resort!
Also, if you live in Southern California, you get a discount. Just show your drivers license at the ticket window. I think Palo Alto is the furthest north city they allow, but try anyway, no matter where you live.

Only strange if you live close to it. As a kid, I used to go something like six times a year. Now I am older, farther away and never go. I think the last time it was so crowded one summer, we went on two rides, gave up and left to go drinking in Laguna.

Nope, locals are usually not drawn to the local attractions. My family lives in Memphis, TN and they have never been to Graceland. Plus if you are an adult without children, I would assume Disneyland would be lame to you.

Not at all. Lots of people live near landmarks and never go...at least until they get visitors from out of town who drag them. Disneyland is great but not for everyone.

Not really so strange. Dizzyland is kind of an overpriced, overpromoted playground. I have been there, but don't really care if I ever go back again.
