Your room is not 12 x 13 sq ft, it's 12 ft x 13 ft = 156 sq ft.
What you're after is the room perimeter 12' + 13' +12' + 13' = 50 linear ft.
Divide 50' by 15 = 3.33 rolls ..........you need 4 x 15' rolls

If the border is 12" wide 15' of it will be 15 Square feet.

If the border is 6" wide 15' would be 7 1/2 Square feet.

There are 144 square inches in a square foot.

You need 50 linear feet of border 12'- 13' -12' - 13'

So a 15' per roll you will need 4 rolls, this will leave you with 10'
extra. But is best to remeasure the room because it may be several inches off.

You don't need to know sq ft for borders, only linear feet ..which is another word for distance.,so a 12x13 room is .....12 plus 13 plus12 plus13 or 50 linear feet.... FYI.... sq ft is lenght times width or a 1 foot wide border that is 15 linear feet would be 15 sq ft [15x1]and a border 2 feet wide would be 30 sq ft [15x2} get it? again ,for borders measure the total distance you want to cover and buy that much linear feet plus maybe 10% more for waste and seam matches..the salespeople can tell you if your border needs more or less for waste.

This is really quite simple, no offense. If the room is 12 x 13 your linear measurement is 50 linear feet of wall, hence the need for 4 rolls of border with extra.

Your room isn't 12x13 sq ft. It's 12x13 feet, or 156 sq ft.

But it's the borders of the room you'll be interested in, which are 2x12 + 2x13 (minus doors). If the border only comes in 15-foot packages, you'll need 4 packages.

15 linear feet means the border is 15 ft. long, so it will take 1 roll per wall, so you will need 4 rolls.

It means the board is 15 feet long. You don't say "room is 12x13 square feet", square feet is the area as if you were covering the floor. 12x13=156 square feet. Back to your question, you need four boards. One 15 footer will do one wall.

Linear feet is distance measurement. You are seeking an area measurement. If it is just border you should need 25 foot minimum and to be safe get 30 foot.
