Because it is the only vision we see in the media. We are being conditioned to be attracted to this vison by constant exposure to it.

Look on TV and read magazines all the popular people are thin..........um airbrushing is popular in magazines.....TV adds 20 pounds ..........Do you thin people forget that Marlyn Monroe was a size 14????? I am also guessing that people think thin looks good. I was thin I weighed 97 pounds from age 12 - 25 I hated being that thin............. i was weak i looked sick and I couldn't find clothes to fit me. I am now 150- 155 pounds and I love every ounce of me! Something I couldn't say 10 years years ago.!

actually this is the same as why is society obsess with being rich ?
Rich people account for less then 2 % of total population...
that goes same for skinny people... but they are on TV more thats why all the teeny popers obsess with mischa barton nicole ritchie paris and all the skinny rakes out there...

Because 60% of the U.S. population is overweight. And us healthy people have to pay for their carelessness through increased health coverage premiums.
Don't try to scapegoat the media, because too many people who lack willpower wish they looked thin. You don't see the sales of all those magazines with thin chicks on the cover decrease.

On the whole, most of the world's population is thinner than the American population. Our celebrities are thin because most of us are overweight. Go to any public place and you can verify this. Most Americans are overweight, and many are obese.

It's the media... Magazines. Television. It's all about perfection. It's all a load of bull.
They all need a good fry up. And half of them have had surgery too! Raaaaaa.
They are setting ridiculous goals for us.

you look better and feel better.
the anorexic look is digesting, but a healthful appearance is beautiful. besides this county is way too fat on the whole and people should get up off their butts and hit the gym, like i am leaving to do.
