How is the best way to draw a large perfect circle on the floor, one about 9 ft in diameter. Also, if I choose to draw one in the woods, how would be the best way to do that. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I bought an inexpensive area rug to make a ceremonial circle.

We measured it out by pushing a nail into the center and tying a string (1/2 the width of the circle) to the nail. Then we tied a pencil to the string and pulled it around to mark the circle.
Then we painted the circle onto the rug, along with other designs.
It's easily stored under the bed when we are not using it.

You could do the nail & string outdoors as well.

Not a witch but, just put a peg or nail in the spot, get some string depending on the size of the circle. Tach one end to the peg and draw circle.

Most of us don't feel the need to draw the actual circle on the ground or the floor, the image of the circle is held in our mind. It makes it less easy for ignorant religious bigots to know where you do ritual that way.

Actually, you don't really need to use anything. Using "tools" is great (and fun), but they are just to focus better, (especially if you're new). You can cast a circle anywhere at anytime.. mentally. THAT, in fact is the REAL magic behind everything. Your mental abilities. Just THINK it and FEEL it, however it feels right, and you can be sure you are "protected". Works every time.

An easy way would be to mark the perimeter is to set up a ring of stones, playing cards, etc.

A circle is not a physical circle, You make a circle with energy.

You know it is not essential in magic to use a circle, I believe that comes from Wicca.

Try string and a measuring tape. That's how the ancient witches did it. Well, pre-modern-day witches I should say.
