You are well-meaning, but are inviting pain into your life. Keep in mind the athiest has the most faith of all of us; they have to subscribe to absolute fantasy to retain their beliefs.
I spent many years of my life in this Bizarro World. Don't worry, when the time comes, God can change the human mind in an instant. Just pray and show the love, friend. You will see remarkable results in your lifetime!

The Bible did tell people to love our family and to honor everyone. But did you know the Bible also tells you to hate everyone, sell everything, be like a Pharisee and follow the 613 Laws of the Old Testament? And that's what you have to do to get into Heaven. And yes, you have to sell everything.
Atheists don't believe in God. I don't think there really is a higher power, until he comes down and says in my face, "I am God." And answers my questions right.

Because of the other things it says.
Did you know that Hitler really transformed the German highway system and made it a lot better, so why don't you like him? You can find something good in just about anything.
Yes, there is some good things in the Bible, some very wise things. But they are few. Did you know that Jesus said to leave your family and turn your back to them to follow God? Also, there's plenty of places in the Bible where God tells his people to kill their enemy, rip open the pregnant women, and dash babies against the stones. The Bible really is a mixed bag when it comes to moral advice.

I'm not saying I disagree with everything in the bible. I just don't believe that the parts about God are true. I agree with loving your family and all that, but that doesn't mean I have to believe in a god. Much of the bible is based on the philosophical concepts of the time it was written, with the concept of morality removed and replaced with a crude system of reward (heaven) and punishment (hell). Most atheists agree with many of the principles of the bible, such as those you mention, but they follow them without need for rewards or fear of punishment.

"So why are you people do not like the bible?" Huh? Do you mean why don't you people like the bible?
There are many reasons not to, first of all it is nearly incomprehensible in many places. second it was written by men. third, it contradicts itself. Fourth, to love and honor has nothing to do with recognizing the bible.
And furthermore, it does not mean someone is an atheist just because they don't read or recognize the bible.

The Bible may say to love our family, but that's not what Jesus said.
Luke 14:26
If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
The Bible may say love your enemy, but if you read the book of Psalms, you'll find a lot of verses that are laments to God to destroy one's enemies.
1 Corinthians 16:22
If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema.
That's just the tip of the iceberg, skippy. I personally don't like the Bible because it is filled to the brim with intolerance, bigotry, cruelty, and inconsistencies. They're all pretty easy to spot to the intelligent eye.

I love my family regardless of what the bible says. Do you think people didn't love their families before the bible was written? Do you think that people of other faiths can't love their families?
The bible also says I may keep slaves and sell my daughter. Why aren't you more like your bible?
Swarmy enough for you Dichard? I realize that being asked awkward questions can, for some Christians, constitute persecution and mockery. Some people are TOO sensitive.

So, you're saying that all people who "like the bible" love all their family members and honor all their enemies? Somehow that seems kind of unlikely; we certainly don't see it happening very often, even among people who claim to be 'religious.'
Atheists do the right thing because it's the right thing to do, not because "god" will get them if they're naughty.

You can agree with the message portrayed by a piece of literature, but that doesn't mean you have to agree that the story is non-fiction. I have read some very moving Jody Picoult novels, with great themes and messages, yet guess what? They are fiction. It's not a matter of dislike, it's a matter of non-belief.

I don't need instructions from a book to tell me that I must honour my parents and family and to love them. That comes from common sense and from who I am. It is a bit of a problem if people need something like a bible to give them morals because it's like without it they'd be totally withou morals.

you're only taking the parts of the Bible you want to, we don't, we consider the bible to be a filthy disgusting text that promotes the most vile, idiotic, and horrendous acts in literature - all condoned and performed by the most loathsome character in all of fiction, the biblical god. There's no escaping this fact as it's all right there in the bible.
