I am a liberal, I have no problem with Christianity, or Islam.

I have a problem with people trying to shout loudest to be heard or making comments full of hate.

If you read this board those things apply to christians, muslims, athiests pagans jews and others.

I recently had to post against someone on a pagan board because they were lumping all christians together in a negative way. This is my pet hate, when one group of people is tarred by the minoriy. I could say why is the human race so full of hatred at each other why dont we just go and shoot each other and leave the earth to the peace loving animals. A blanket statement I could support many times over but which is not correct.

I think the he who shouts loudest usually applies to the most extreme and smaller groups so that they can feel bigger. There are a lot of less militant christians who simply dont bother getting bogged down in this - they do however contribute on other questions.

Unfortunatly this gives the militant athiests and pagans out ther to have a go at their own he who shouts loudest policy. We need mor middle ground people speaking out with a bit more balance and maybe the hate ful answers would get lost in the middle.

I hope (but doubt) that this is a genuine question and that you will actually read the answers. I fear this is another pat on the back exercise and you will only be aware of everyone who agrees with you.

That's a silly, unfounded claim. Liberals distrust fundamentalist Muslims for the same reasons they distrust fundamentalist Christians: because both want to force their beliefs on other people (instead of persuading them by example: "they will know we are Christians by our love"). Liberals try to allow each person to live his life as he sees fit so perhaps they are more tolerant generally than some Christians are.

Liberals and muslims agree on Jesus, he was a messenger with a peaceful ministry seeking social good and then he died. The Jesus of Christianity Came as The Way The Truth and The Life.

Because they like to side with the oppressed. It makes them feel noble. Christians are not oppressed in Amercia. Me, I'm scornful of both.

In America the Christian right wing is aligned with conservative Republicans and the liberals hate them more than anyone in the world.

Because Christians tend to be more visible in their conservative beliefs. They're more likely to be pushing their beliefs on others, trying to convert people.

Muslims tend to take a low-key approach. They know their religion works for them, they don't need to validate it by trying to convince everyone and themselves.

You don't really need to be "tolerant" of someone who isn't in your face. Really, it's the christians that we must tolerate.

I am so old fashioned I can remember when "liberal" meant generous with your own money! The general use of "liberal" today is one who really does not believe in anything. In order to be "generous" in interpretation, you need to not hold any real values that MUST be adhered to. Thus it becomes another word for moral relativism. The moral relativist is very down on those of us who strongly maintain that THERE IS A STANDARD! And we also maintain that if a person does not measure up to that standard they must face the judge. (people in an entirely different value system are not so threatening, for it is clear that we can be separate from their 'judgment'.)

Liberals are more likely to be NON-Christians and the Muslims are rather liberal in some of their ways and definitely satanic in their thoughts. Satan has one goal, to ruin this world with sin and lies. GOD has already won the war with HIS SON. All we have to do is follow the LEADER, Jesus Christ! Have a great day.

Whoa...broad brush there.

Jesus could definitely be considered a liberal in His time on this planet. People should stop melting politics and religion together.

God is too large to be confined to representing one political party or one country for that matter.
