Hi can anyone help me with installing a new OS? I accidentally formatted my disk, (using another PC, this disk was the secondary disk on another computer drive E:/ so to say) and erased all the files in it including the OS. and when I insert the installer XP-OS CD during the boot to CD, it will say that it cannot find a file, the file which it is reffering to is somewhat NTSLGR?? i can't really remember.. but is says it cannot find it. hence it cannot continue.. can anyone please help me??

Sounds like either the PC is not booting off the CD, but rather looking to the empty hard drive and can not find any files. Or the Windows CD you are using is bad.

Go into the computer's BIOS (look on the very first screen during boot up for what key to press to get into the computer's set up). Look for a place where you can set the Boot Order. Rearrange the list so that the CD drive is the first drive it look for, and then reboot. Should start the Windows install.

If that does not work, you may need to borrow a different Windows CD from a friend, or contact Microsoft about getting a replacement one.

Yeah NTLDR is the main loader file for Windows, since you formatted yo uwouldn't have it. Put in OS CD and hit f12 at bootup. Pick boot to cdrom/dvd etc.. This will start Windows setup and just continue on to install Windows..

oh no! you need a format floppy disk. boot up to this and type in fdisk you are going to have to learn dos commands or pay someone to do it for you. you have to erase the remains of nfts and then format then xp will reinstall

If you have a floppy disc in your drive, and it checks the A drive for startup before the C Drive, then it can definitely say that, even though there aren't problems.
