The main thing is really time for exercise. It depends what kind of food your feeding him. It could be anywhere from 10-50 dollars a month in food. Small dogs dont eat as much but you should look into high quality food. Theres also an option to get an insurance plan with the vet incase anything happens, your already paying into health care so its alot of things are covered, like if he gets hit by a car, or has a seizure or something. Obviously shots and spaying wouldnt be covered but its good for emergencies. I dont really buy my dog anything other than his food, and bones which are essential for dental health. He prefers water bottles over toys, and of course tennis balls because hes a border collie, but those are like 5 for 3 dollars. I probably only spend 30 dollars a month on my dog, but spend countless hours exercising and playing with him.
