My father runs a car workshop, just beside our house, which have this car paint section. The car painter and his brother who have been working for my father since 1980s in the same workshop, did most painting works outside in open air. Although there is a ventilated room, most of the time one of them would use the open air because the ventilated room is occupied. This created a new issue for us or rather me. I talked with my father that it is dangerous to spray paints outside, in addition, it is very close to our rooms. To make things worst, the air conditioner of our room is directly pointed where they would spray the paint. I recently found our that they were using xylene for paint thinner and metallic paints for their paint works.
I am already feeling asthmatic but my parents insisted it was nothing and they cant afford to jeopardize their own business income.Often me and my father had a fight on this issue when we talk about it. Please give me your suggestion

I am too young to think about cancers. T.T
Why would my father be so hard headed...
He would rather care about money than our well being... I promise I will never forgive him if something happens to me. I promise!

It's not likely to be a high enough concentration in an open air spraying to be hazardous, not to mention that you probably are not there for the bulk of the business hours. The air conditioner for your room is a window unit? If so it pulls air from inside your room not the outside. If you are seriously concerned with your health and safety get a respirator from the shop and wear it while they spray.

Your dad isn't judging you, he is most likely from the "old school" and doesn't believe in going to the doctor for every little thing. If you truly think you are sick from all this, go to the school nurse and she will help you get a doctor's appointment. In the meantime, don't worry so much. And, most Dad's don't like their youngens telling/lecturing them about anything.....
Good Luck!
