Ok, so I got divorced and at that time my ex was owing me a certain sum (that was included in the "division of assets" paper with a deadline and all). Now he's repaid a part of it (cash, hand to hand, he didn't want to make a bank transfer to make it official) and wants me to write him some sort of note which states that I have received this much from him.
Any idea how is such a note called (so that i can look up a sample on the Internet) or... just maybe a link to a possible sample?

Thanks a lot in advance for any suggestions.

All you need to give him as a note worded like this:-

'Received of......the sum of.......on account of the full sum of......due and payable to me under the financial settlement in our divorce dated ............There is now the balance of ......... payable to me thereunder. This receipt is not intended to waive or amend any deadline for payment set down in such financial settlement which remains in full force and effect in respect of the balance due to me'

Do it through a lawyer or the court/notary. It will benefit and protect you both.
