You would have to be much more specific. It depends both on the exact nature of the crime, and the individual who committed it. You have to take into account information like mental illness, prior offences, remorse, recidivism, et cetera. And also, of course, the age of the victim, the frequency and nature of the crime, the victim's relationship with the criminal, and so on. No one punishment is suitable in all circumstances.

HERE IS YOUR ANSWER, harsh as it may seem:

1st offense: minimum 10 months in the penitentiary followed by physical castration with hormone/chemical follow up to deaden the sex drive.

2nd offense: incarceration for LIFE in a minimum security work facility where they are not just warehoused but can do some type of productive job.

You do NOT/ can NOT change ones sexual preference and they WILL do it again 99% of 'em. You can NOT stop it with rules, laws, threats of punishment, therapies, counselling... they are what they are.

Castration ( no I do not mean chemical either), psychological counseling/therapy, and a very long jail sentence...no parole either! If caught again, possible life sentence. I do not tolerate people specially those in power (like your neighborhood priest, or your doctor, etc...) to snatch innocence. Kids now grow up way too fast, and are exposed to more predators than they once were. There's this pedophile that once said, it doesn't matter where he was or that he knew it was wrong, he still craved children...

Put them in jail; at least for three times the age of the child abused!

Longer? OK. I don't mind. No less though!

Otherwise, God has punished them already and will punish them at the end of days for labelling themselves like that.

Have to agree with Steve T., castration is the only answer to stopping pedophiles. They've been locked up and counselled and sent to mental institutions and nothing seems to work. Castration is the only answer!

I don't believe that pedophiles can be cured. Their crimes are about power & sexual abuse is just a weapon. So castration won't work.

These folks can't be in society because of their danger.

They should be imprisioned forever, with no chance of parole.

Castration. Plain Simple & Effective. Why should the society pay his jail term, keeping an eye on him etc etc. Castrate him.
