Can someone please suggest some ideas on what to do? It is really hurting but I would like to try to wait until my insurance kicks in which will be a while yet. Please let me know. Thanks

Why wait?

Get yourself on a dental plan that has no waiting periods, and no
deductibles so you save money and dentist gets you out of
pain right away. Why wait? I recommend eHealthPlus.

Go to the Drug Store and buy a large bottle of HYDROGEN PEROXIDE. It is an EXCELLENT mouth wash (recommended by a dentist many years ago and I've used it for 40 years). It will heal your gums and eliminate the pain. It is very inexpensive. About $1.00 for a quart. It is usually next to the alcohol.

Swish with it 3 times a day. It will bubble and taste a little funky after after 30 to 60 seconds spit it out. Try not to rinse after. The longer you keep the remnants in your mouth the quicker it will heal.

The pain will gradually be alleviated if it is severe. Mild pain will go away promptly.

If your pain is primarily in one tooth. Get some of the dental wax on the dental aisle in the Drug store and dry the tooth and pack wax over it to avoid liquid leakage into the root area. You probably have moisture getting to the nerve.

If you have a regular dentist, call him and see if they can help you...they might.

Universities have some emergency dental clinics...you could check into that..

You could try orajel or clove oil (the cooking kind) on the tooth to see if that helps. When I had a bad toothache, the pharmacist said that I could take tylenol and aspirin together (but NOT aspirin with naprosyn, motrin or the like)...I know it is a horrible pain..

There is a group of dentist, New York Dentist, all over the country. They are really much cheaper than everyone else and will actually take small payments. See if you have any near you. If you are hurting now, it is not going to go away. Tooth pain is the worst. Hope this helps.

Not smart, false teeth cost alot more! Dentists will let you make payments. There is a prescription you can get it is a knuming ointment. THere is always the stuff over the counter and then there is that good old fashion way of warm salt water gargling. You would hate to have to use the string and doorknob way! HA!

Check your area, you should have a school of dentistry, they take anyone, because these are student dentist, at little or no cost, there is a waiting list, but if you go through the emergency room you will get bumped up or they will give you pain medicine for the pain.

An old remedy is to dab a little oil of clove on the affected area.
It's not the best tasting stuff but its analgesic properties will give you temporary relief.
