They do don't they? devils...
Their rational logical and irrefutable logic is only a test of faith for the TRUE BELIEVER
- That's really how they think - terrifying, isn't it?

Which plausible facts would they be I wonder?
They try to devalue the Bible because the Bible contradicts their own beliefs. If the bible is true then they are wrong. Therefore they must try to demonstrate that the Bible is false.
But they fail. They often use evolutionary arguments (perhaps these are the 'facts' you refer to?), but these can always be rebutted by searching for the relevant topic at a site such as www.creationontheweb.com.
Typically the 'facts' are not so much facts a philosphical interpretations. Facts do not speak for themselves - they are viewed within the context of a world view.

If the Bible can be devalued with sound reasoning and plausible facts then what does it say about the Bible?
To ask a similar question, why do Christian groups try to devalue science with poor reasoning and propaganda?
As long as Christian groups are attacking science (and through that, our entire culture) I wouldn't expect them to stop.

Hello,
(ANS) Because as an atheist the bible is a stupid book, full of non sense that was written 2000 years ago. And is irrelevant to the life & society we now live in. The moral & ethical ideas held in the bible are bankrupt and make no sense.
The very idea of a god makes no sense to me either, the logic & rational facts of life such as Darwins Evolution by natural selection, the millions of years of the fossil record,& science show no real evidence for the exsistence of a god or ominopotent creator of the universe.
**Why? because I find the need for christians & other equally bankrupt faiths & belief systems to go around prosterlizing utterly distasteful. I DONT go around as an atheist pushing my views upon others. And I wish others would stop doing that.
**Religon & religous faith causes more direct suffering than it solves, indeed you could argue that faith & religon IS the problem not the solution.
**Millions of people have been slaughtered in the name of religon & faith. If you want a current example look at shias & sunni's you would never imagine they both were supposed to follow islam. And you would never imagine islam was supposed to be about compassion & peace based upon how these x2 groups are killing each other. No! if thats religon you can keep it, no! thanks never.

Peace!
The Bible is not a scientific book. Neither is it a historical book, although there are stories there which are historical in nature. It is a story of God's saving acts to redeem man.
Not every word in the Bible is meant as teaching. The important thing is the revelation. There are many things in the Bible which were placed there for cultural, geographical, historical or poetic reasons. So if you read it critically or literally the Bible will be of little help to you. It should be read in the same level it was written - spiritual.
I think this is the reason why atheists do not appreciate the Bible.
They read it critically and not spiritually.
God bless

Difficult question to answer, but one worth addressing.
On a personal level, it's because I'm pissed of by the ignorant bullshit being peddled to children, vulnerable adults and used by religions to try to interfere in our lives.
I'm especially pissed off because I had enough of this crap peddled to me at Sunday school for years until I was old enough, smart enough (and brave enough) to say NO MORE!!!

How many wars has the Bible sporned?
How many people have been executed/murdered for having different beliefs?
How much pain and suffering have such books created?
If you were a reasoning athiest, wouldn't you try and stop this continuing escalation of violence and intollerance?
(Oh damn, there goes another thousand years in Pergatory).

Speaking as an atheist, it's because of my anarchic nature. I hate being told what to do by men in dresses who preach against homosexuality in a totally unbigotted attempt to maintain a traditional level of morality. In fact, they'd probably be best off stoning me now, just in case...
Edit:
Now here's interesting... it seems thatthe atheists on here are as blind to humour as the god botherers. What a smashing discovery...(accompanied by an evil giggle).
