Dogs react oddly sometimes when their world changes. From what I understand, it started when your husband started working away, but now your dogs behavior has continued. He is probably very connected to your husband and now doesn't understand why he is not there much anymore. Your husband is like a member of the pack. It may be that he is stressed because your husband isn't there much lately.
First have him checked for a UTI. Males can get it too. Next, you may want to try keeping the doors to bedrooms, bathrooms, etc. closed. Try and keep him close to you so you can keep an eye on him. If you're in the kitchen, bring him in the kitchen. Let him out to potty often.
Also, if you have a crate, you may want to put him in there when you either leave or go to bed.

Have you taken him to a vet? A urinary tract infection or other problem can cause this.
Bleach is not the answer. It doesn't smell the same to a dog as it does to us. You need one of those enzyme cleaners that removes the smell so the DOG can't smell it. Their sniffers are so much more powerful than ours!
Nature's Miracle is a good one. They use it at the local shelter and it seems to work very well.
I don't think peeing in the house is an expression the dog is trying to control you. Get him checked for health problems and tell the vet what is going on.

This sounds like a territory and power thing..he is the man of the house when your husband is away, the after his weekend return come Monday its time to scent mark all that territory again.to put it bluntly its time for a visit to the vet to loose the crown jewels.its not cruel you will be doing the poor dog a favour. I am a dog owner.......A bull mastif so i know about controlling dogs...except you are in charge not the dog once he understands that he will be happy and less stressful

My Staffie is the cleanest of dogs - she goes and does her business in the ivy - hidden away frm our prying eyes. Staffies are very sensitive to change - perhaps she is missing your husband. I would certainly take her to your vet for a check up. It is not usual behaviour at her age. Something is wrong.

your husband being gone could be the problem. it sound like he ist try to be the dominate one in the house. but also could be a problem so i would have the vet check him out. Is he neutered in get it done as soom as you can it just might help.

My mum used to say that you should rub their nose in it and it stops them but that seems pretty cruel to me.
I think you should take a trip to the vets and see if they can throw any light on it.
That would seriously annoy me and is extremely unhygenic. It sounds like he is marking his territory.
(sorry did not mean any offense against you about the unhygenic bit. I am sure your house is very clean, it's just the thought of dog pee in the house.)

I would suggest a checkup. It has been 9 months, so it is time.
Sounds like a physical problem.
