Good Question.Where in the Islamic code does 'lovIng anybody "ever get a mention? Can find a lot about killing infidels etc etc but very strangely , nothing about loving your neighbour....must have read that over & over again in some other book.
Hmmm wonder which one ? Could it have been The Bible ?

In Islam we do have the death penalty, as well as other forms of punishment, and we do carry out these punishments whenever they are needed. We make no apologies for doing so, however, it is imperative to understand that we do have a justice system complete with courts and juries. These laws and punishments are for both our personal as well as the community's benefit. When carried out as intended, a truly Islamic State will rarely witness a repeat offender, which not only ensures the peace and harmony of the community by stopping potential tragedies, but also saves that community billions of tax dollars. Think of these laws as preventative measures. If you know that if you murder a person, you too will die, this makes that person think twice. in America, if you murder a person, you get a gauranteed place of residence, an excercise yard, AND access to a library. The actual punishment of execution may not come for eight to twelve years if at all. Besides the billions of dollars that law abiding citizens must shell out to provide these comforts (comforts that millions in the world will never know) where's the incentive NOT to commit a crime? Recidivism (repeat offenders) show that America's penal system does not work. In fact, America is the number one murder capitol in the ENTIRE WORLD, but you won't find that on the tourist brochures. Many Christians, but not all, will cry out that this is unjust and barbaric

After all, this is the message of the All-Wise and all-knowing God whose wisdom and knowledge are far beyond the ultimate in human thought and progress.

The statement "an eye for an eye" is written to judges who are making ruling in court cases. When you read the context, it is forbidding a judge from giving excessive punishment to people. It means that the fine or punishment for a crime is not to exceed the damage done. If you were to cause someone to lose their tooth, the judge could not have you executed. Rather the worst the judge could do would be the lose of your own tooth, or the monetary value to repair it. (The example the Bible actually gives). I like the way Gilbert and Sullivan put it "Let the punishment fit the crime...."

However, by the time of Jesus (1500 years later), people had done just what your question does. That had taken this sentencing guideline for courtroom judges and attempted to make it a rule that let them attack or injure others in revenge, etc. Exactly what that law was trying to prevent. So Jesus corrected his followers by reminding them that they are not judge, jury and executioner. They can not take the law into their own hands. Rather, they are to "love their enemies and pray for those who misuse them."

So that two are not contradictory or "changes". "Love your neighbors" just explains and clarifies the usage of the early law.

be friend with your enemy is also in Islam:

[34] The good deed and the evil deed cannot be equal. Repel (the evil) with one which is better then verily he, between whom and you there was enmity, (will become) as though he was a close friend.
Quran 41:34

and by the way the person above me "Messenger" isn't really muslims, he is pretending to be one just to give muslims bad image in this site.

there is a difference between loving someone and justice.

For example if we let all murderer without punishment, then the murder rate will be very high .. Do you think God want this to happen?

Islam commands u to be merciful to our enemies and forgive them:

[41:34] Nor can Goodness and Evil be equal. Repel (Evil) with what is better: then will he between whom and thee was enmity become as it were thy friend and intimate!

[45:14] Tell those who believe, to forgive those who do not look forward to the Days of God; it is for Him to recompense (for good or ill) each People according to what they have earned.

U didn`t get the info fully then. He said love your enemy, which we do so well. We welcome all foreigners in our countries & even ask for autographs & to take pics with u people. However, if the enemy did something against us..we FIRST use peaceful talks for MANY MANY times..but if the enemy insisted on causing us damages? We obey what god said(bad word for a bad word..a spank for a spank..& so on) So i think our religion is very fair, since it tells us to respond by the exact same action after long long many many angelic negociations. What do u think?

Actually I think it was the other way around

Exodus 21 vs 23-25
But if injury ensues, you shall give life for life,
eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,
burn for burn, wound for wound, stripe for stripe

Deuteronomy 19 vs 21
Do not look on such a man with pity. Life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, and foot for foot

Mathew 5 vs 38-40
You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.'
But I say to you, offer no resistance to one who is evil. When someone strikes you on (your) right cheek, turn the other one to him as well.

Just for the record I am neither Christian nor Muslim, I just cannot stand misinformation, lies and deceit in the name of truth.

If you want to argue at least make valid points when you do it.
