I don't think it is ever totally harmless. I've heard people saying that new homes shouldn't be built on medievil plague cemetaries incase the virus/bacteria are still active.

i depedns on the infection involved. for instance HIV does not live very long at all once it is outside the body - but hepitious can last much, much longer.

So in short, it depends what infections the blood has in it - but if I were you I wouldn't go drinking to much of it just incase!
