'people making their bodies obese'?

Right, this stops now. Do you know of anyone who has CHOSEN to be obese? No? Why is that then?

The cause of obesity can be seen to be obvious: if a person eats too much and does too little exercice, they become obese. The REASON why a person would eat too much and not exercise, on the other hand, is less obvious.

Some studies have concluded that it is likely obese people carry a virus that affects their appetite, such that they don't realise they are eating too much. Other studies have shown that a hormonal imbalance might be responsible, and this is inherited. Do not forget that a very normal side effect of MANY ordinary painkillers (like paracetamol, asprin etc) is a change in appetite. Some people lose appetite, some people gain it. Essentially, they have no choice over how much their bodies tell them to eat!

Now, as for exercice, you must do enough activity to offset your eating. If you eat too much you might have to run '10 miles a day to burn it off'. Run 10 miles a day?! No-one is going to be able to do that if they are obese! For obese people, exercise is difficult. They are not lazy, they are unable to do serious exercise at their current weight.

So, what are the solutions? In the UK, stomache surgery is now available on the NHS, so that someone's appetite can be drastically reduced. Over time, that person will lose weight and be more able to exercise. The more they exercise, the more weight they'll lose BUT they still won't increase their appetite because of the reduced size of their stomaches.

This surgery has only recently become available on the NHS and it is very dangerous. It is reserved only for people who are in serious danger from their weight.

So who is to blame? Do you think that an obese person is to blame for the way they are? I will tell you now, it isn't McDonalds fault, it isn't Burger King's fault, it isn't Wendy's or TGI Friday's or Taco Bell's fault. It isn't the obese person's fault. It isn't the government's fault. So who?

Well, we are in a Religion and Spirituality forum, so I guess I should be open minded about this. Obesity stems from the way a person is 'made'.

If you believe in Evolution, then obesity is a symptom of us stopping the evolutionary process by NOT allowing the weak to die. I am not implying that obese people have inferior genetics, I am simply saying that their obesity is the result of generations of BAD breeding (not on a family scale, on a SPECIES scale). For thousands of years we have helped the weak to survive rather than allowing them to die. This is our greatest strength as a species (because our numbers are so high and we have such a strong social system) but also our greatest weakness (as a species, we will never improve further and will probably degenerate). Fact

If you believe in God, then God made obese people obese. Fact.

So, if you believe in God you MUST believe that God approves of obese people because God made them that way.

Now can everyone STOP putting obese people down. They are no less human than anyone and do not deserve the discrimination they recieve.

Getting persistently below the impact of alcohol is merely as undesirable as smoking & is seen in the same way. i'm extremely stunned which you don't be conscious of that already, as you declare to have been a Jehovah's Witness. additionally, by the form you have worded this question, you look a dash judgemental of obese human beings. some human beings DO have a medical condition that reasons weight benefit. Jehovah loves fairly everybody regardless of their weight. while it talks approximately greed in the Bible, it incredibly is talking a pair of guy or woman's attitude & motivation... not approximately how many muffins or puddings they consume each and each week. possibly you might have us disfellowshiping everybody over a undeniable gown length ... yet fortuitously Jehovah isn't so judgemental.

Our body is a gift from God. what we do with it is our gift to Him. What do I mean? If we really love the gift of life, we will treasure every bit of it. We will try to live healthy in all aspects, may it be our health, family life, social life and spiritual life.

No. Anything that Harms The Body is unpleasing to Him, and misses the Mark of His Will for us.

God doesn't interfere into such matters. God has supplied us humans with brains. It's up to us how we use them.

I doubt it very much......that said, if people are born with disorders then God has made that happen so they aren't included in his "unapproval"
