I want to get his name but I also want a design, i don't know of what but I don't want it to be too baby-ish! but I also want people to know it's for my baby. Everyone disagrees with getting it on my lower back, but I kinda like the idea, so i don't know about that one. I don't want a portrait of him, so please help with any ideas.

I wouldn't do it personally. If it's something you've thought of doing for awhile-then I'd say do it. Something like his name, DOB and the horoscope design . Put it where you want it.

Well, you get something that reminds you of your son, something emblematic of the day of conception or birth. And then get his name or initials done over it and his birth date under it.
Not quite the same, but when my dad died I got a Smith & Wesson emblem, in S&W blue, done on my upper right arm and his initials underneath it. It was his favorite revolver.
I know, I know, guns and babies in the same paragraph, but you get what I mean. Maybe that will help you in your search. I don't want to suggest anything specific because it will mean more if you figure out "that something" with your significant other. And get it where you want it...other people don't have to like it or where you put it.
Most of all, enjoy it.

If everyone disagrees with where you want to put it, but you like it..then do it. Everyone else doesnt have to live with it, only you do. How old is your baby? Does he have a favorite stuffed animal or anything? If he does, I'd get that. or maybe the meaning of his name? Something that'll be special to you.

What a great idea! Maybe his name and his date of birth in small type plus a little symbol or image that reminds you of him :) But think twice about the place because if you have more children, they may fight over whose name was offered the best position....

My boyfriends brother in law has 2 babies. He got his sons name from his armpit to his hip. It looks like a bunch of wooden planks to spell out nicholas, very cute. Then on his other side he got his daughters name (Brooke Marie) from arm pit to hip in a swirly cursive wrtining, also very cute. Maybe instead of a design you could get his name in lettering that is different.
Good Luck!

never get a tribute on the lower back. that is what guys see when they hit the doggy style. give em somethin good to look at. tributes should be in a easily showable spot but still easy to conceil with clothing. (this is my opinion, so no hate mail) try tattoojack.devianart.com to see some work i have done and search the site for tattoos. you would be suprised how much lookin at other peoples tats can help you decide what you would like.

Depending on the year he was born, use the Chinese symbol for that year. Then translate his name into Chinese and put it along with the symbol. As far as the location, maybe the shoulder or inside of the wrist.

Just get a nice portrait of him on your left or right arm. Thats the best place for it, trust me. The back is too much. Tattos on the back are more of a "sexy" thing as appose to paying homage to a loved one.

I getting a tatoo in honor of my daughter too. I thinking of going with my upper left shoulder blade or my left bicep. I wouldn't go with my lower back, that's kinda creepy since its your son.
