we are all running helter-shelter without any goal, but one thing is certain, we are all running to our death, closer and closer, day by day, minute by minute.

A wonderful question! The day we come to know where we are running, we will stop running!!
As someone has said,'The Kingdom of God is within you'. We do not know what we want, that is why we keep running.

Running toward the subconscious desire that motivates us.
Whatever that might be?
Fame, fortune, evil, lust, purity, love, wealth.
Different things for different people---ever read Dante's Inferno?
At the vestibule of Hell people are chasing a wavering banner that forever goes on ahead of them---and they are endlessly chased and stung by hornets--the pus from their wounds feeds the field of maggots on which they run.
Pretty gruesome---but the point is made that many people are after inordinate ambition.

Towards achieving our goals, dreams and expectations in our lives. WE are running towards being better and better with the passing of each and every day. Running and running but never out of breath. WE hope to reach our end smiling, happy, after extreme fulfillment of our dreams and hopes in life. We hope to achieve our ultimate before God calls upon us to be judged for our mistakes throughout our lives. WE hope to run to heaven and that heaven would be our goal in life and afterlife.
This is what we are running for (and we never run out of breath)
hope we achieve our goals, hopes, dreams in our lives before we reach our ends .

U can get this answer only in the holy book of the lord who created us .It answers the questions such as why man is made for, what we want to do and what not , and where we r running and where actual we want to go.
And that book is only the holy QURAN the only divine guidance
present in the world.

We are all in a rat race fully aware that at the end of the rat race, we will still be a rat! I don't think God created us beautiful creatures to run a rat race! Just think!

As long as there is a goal, a finishing point, it is okay: but hope we are not running away from something, not fleeing to escape from life!

I don't know about you, but my butt's been sitting in this chair for the last two hours, and the last time I ran was....um, I don't remember. Anyway, I don't think you could possibly be referring to me. I don't run!
Yes, I get your symbolism, but I don't even run symbolically.
