Really - as an atheist, I don't actually believe in hell, but - what could there be down there that would actually put me off, having lived on Earth?

Presumably I'd be immortal and stripped of my fleshy body, so no nervous system to actually experience and process pain and no fear of dying (again).

I could hardly be surrounded by more cretinous and stupid folk than I meet on a day to day basis anyway.

And if it turns out the bible bashers are right afterall, at least I won't have them banging on about religion all the time, because they'll be harping it up in heaven.

Surley the bigger threat to the badly behaved would be that you'd have to be reincarnated and put up with the likes of George Bush and Jade from Big Brother for another seventy years?

Isn't it funny how the "Christian" answerers are so full of the milk of human kindness that it overfloweth into the cup of their neighbour...etc.?

And they seem to have a lot of very accurate and certain information on hell... don't know about you, but it makes me a tad suspicious...

You have forgotten the main things about Hell (provided it exists)

1 It will be empty because 'God Forgives All Sinners!'

and more importantly
2 There are extremes of temperature there, so you can Ski and Snowboard in the morning and then Waterski and sunbathe in the afternoon!

Radical, Man!!!

If you go first make sure you get the drinks in buddy!

Hi, I am not an atheist but a Spiritualist and I get the thumbs down all the time just for this. My belief (and I believe I have proof from my communication of those in the afterlife) is that there is no Hell as this is a man made concept to frighten, indoctrinate and empower - in other words it is used to control humankind. Everyone, bad or good, goes to the spiritworld (or Heaven as some call it) regardless of whether they believe in God or not (incidentally I do). There are different parts of the spiritworld where each soul, or spirit, is alloted to whether they have done bad deeds or not. I know you don't believe in God, but for all those who do, have you ever asked yourself that if God loves us why would he punish us by putting us in the mythical Hell? Right I will get off my soap box now and wait for the thumbs down signs to come up!

You are probably right. Hell is likely to be a paradise under earth compared to what goes on in heaven anyway. Think about it. In heaven you will have all the Bible Thumpers, Jehovahs Witnesses, and Muslim Terrorists looking for their 72 virgins. It would be a regular circus. All the real decent folk would be rotting in hell, which certainly has to be better than the nonsense we face every day on earth.

So the real joke is heaven would really be hell and hell would be heaven. We do tend to get our priorities mixed up all the time and this would be the real clincher.

Hell has a lot to offer the unsaved. First, you won't be stripped of your human body and you will have full sensory awareness to include pain and suffering. You will have full recall of your life on earth and the bad and painful memories will overcome the pleasant memories, and these memories will haunt you for all eternity. There will be no relief from the suffering. You will cry out for God and he will not hear you. Does this sound like something that you would be interested in?

If you don't think of heaven as a cloud kingdom and Hell as pits of burning sulphur, but instead think that if you devote your life to God (either through Jesus or not) then when you die you are welcomed into his kingdom and therefore will experience an eternity in his Love. This goes beyond all earthly and material feelings and states and is therefore incomprehensible to us. This is the Davine glory of god, and if you did not give your life to him whilst on earth you exist outside of this love and this is Hell. Imagine yourself as a child in a Lunch detention when all your friends are having fun out side and then times that by infinity!

being that there are presumably nothing but "bad" people threr you would never be able to trust anyone.never be able to believe a word anyone says.youd always have to watch your back.and you'd have a sick feeling in your stomach and be pissed off when you realize your surrounded by some really sick horrible people like child molesters,Hitler,Jeffry Dahmer, etc.and you cant kill them cause thier already dead. And if your not really evil the others will prey on you.

Those spending eternity in Hell will be in literal bodies, feeling pain, experiencing pain physically and emotionally.
Anything you think is bad here on earth will end. In Hell, we're talking about eternity, never-ending. No relief, none.
