Also, if a guy doesn't really want the girl and the girl asks "do you want this to work?" will the guy be likely to say something?

Let me get this straight..You want him to feel bad to make you feel good? Or... you like him and your not getting what you need out of the relationship and this is your only option?
He is not a child. It's not like your taking away his favorite toy. He may cry and then find another toy to play with. Understand? Try a more mature approach. Talk to him. Good luck. : )
