Kill False Prophets- Deuteronomy 13:1-5 NLT
Pro Slavery
However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way. (Leviticus 25:44-46 NLT)
Murder, rape, and pillage at Jabesh-gilead (Judges 21:10-24 NLT)
Laws of Rape (Deuteronomy 22:28-29 NLT)
If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her.
List goes on for ever.... but no more room here.

I completely agree. People claim they are following the Law of God, yet they completely ignore the fact that the Law of God is the OT, not the NT, while saying that the OT Law does not apply today. It is very true that it does not apply in this day and age. Even the laws dictated in the NT only applied to the culture of that period. Therefore the Bible as a whole should not be taken literally. You can not pick and choose what you are going to believe and follow so you have to either accept it all or none. It can't be both yet countless people believe otherwise.

Ecclesiastes 3 v.14 I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that men will revere him.
Matthew 24 v.35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away
Jesus came to fufill the law and not abolish it
Rmans 7 v. 7What shall we say, then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! Indeed I would not have known what sin was except through
the law.
Therefore the old testament stands because God's standards never change because men disregard them. The New Testament depicts Jesus being the sacrificial Lamb, a propitiation before the Father,Holy and righteous and He was to aplease Him on our behalf because of our sins which failed to live up to the law.

The Old Testament is a beautiful picture of New Testament truths. Paul said ALL of scripture is good for teaching and admonishing.
You quote a law against rape like it's a bad thing. Back then, most cultures didn't HAVE any laws against rape and there was NO penalty for doing it. At least Deuteronomy gives the Hebrews some penalties!
To little droid guy: No, I am not. What I am saying is look at the passage in light of the historical context. In most cultures a virgin who was raped was considered useless, a worthless human being, and that was awful. By having a law that forces a marry to marry his victim, it serves as a DETERRENT to the crime in the first place. If you had to marry every woman you've ever had sex with, I bet you would have sex with a lot less people, yes?
The point is the law served to deter men from raping women. Any law that does that is a good thing.

The previous Testiment replaced into written for the duration of harsh cases whilst people had a constrained understanding. As such it contained harsh punishments and replaced into in many cases worry based...by using actuality that that replaced into what people might desire to understand. As we grew spiritually the recent testiment stepped forward to grant guidence from a extra compassionate attitude. somewhat of worry it moved in the direction of compassion and information

Peace!
The Old Testament is an indispensable part of the Bible. Its books are divinely inspired and retain a permanent value, for the Old Covenant has never been revoked.
Even though they contain matters imperfect and provisional the books of the Old Testament bear witness to the whole divine pedagogy of God's saving love.

Under the law to the nation of Israel if an engaged girl had relations with another man, she and the man were put to death, but if the girl screamed for help this was taken as proof of her innocence. The man was put to death for his sin in which he forced her, and the girl was exonerated De 22:23-27

Below are quotes from the early Church Fathers from books not in the Protestant Bible, but that are in the Catholic Bible. In one quote from St. Augustine, he even lists the canon of the Old Testament and it includes the books that are considered apocryphal by Protestantism.
Since, therefore, Christ was about to be manifested and to suffer in the flesh, his suffering was foreshown. For the prophet speaks against evil, `Woe to their soul, because they have counseled an evil counsel against themselves' (Isaiah 3:9), saying, `Let us bind the righteous man because he is displeasing to us' (Wisdom 2:12)." St. Barnabas ("Epistle of St. Barnabas" c. 70-100 A.D.)
"By the word of his might God established all things, and by his word he can overthrow them. `Who shall say to him, 'What have you done?'' or who shall resist the power of his strength?' (Wisdom 12:12)." St. Clement of Rome ("Letter to the Corinthians" c. 80 A.D.)

It is simple nonsense that was included to water down the true teachings of Jesus.
It has no place mixed in with the words of Jesus.
