If you are a real couple then it doesn't matter who pays what, as long as you share the end resulting cash. My money versus your money is a bad arrangement for any relationship. Hope this helps

A couple if you're not married shouldn't be living together. Should be on their own paying their own expenses.
If the couple is married expenses should be jointly shared.
If the not married couple decides to move in together (UNWISE) but in the off chance it's done. All expenses should be split 50/50 Each sharing 1/2 of all expenses, RENT, Utilities, Food, Cable, PHONE, Renters insurance etc. Each should be responsible for 1/2 of everything!

In a perfect world! I think that the cost should be split according to their income. If one makes 20 percent more then they should pay more. The one that makes less can make up the difference with household duties. Even in 2007 most of the time the man pays the bills and the woman cleans the house.

Well...if this is a couple that is just rooming to save money it should be 50/50 on everything or on the things that can be split like rent/electricity, etc. but if your shackin' up together....GET MARRIED and then it's no yours and mine ...it's OURS everything gets pooled....marriage doesn't mean you have no right to your own money but for the most part it should be shared.

my partner and I both work so we split rent, groceries, alcohol etc straight down the middle....he earns more than me so often with things like when we go away on a w/e getaway then I'll let him pay for the accomodation say but will go halves where I can afford to...its a plan thats always worked well for us but everyone will have their own system which works for them...thats the key point here...its whatever that actually WORKS that will be the right way to go for you both

if your in a relationship that is serious enough to the point where you are living with your partner, costs should be split evenly. I feel that managing finances is one of the hardest things to making a marriage work, and if you cant have a fair balance before your married how can you expect to have one once you are.

All of it split right down the middle - 50/50
No fights can arise from this.

It depends on somany factors that there is one easy answer for that.
theoretically is 50-50 each but it depends on salary, understanding each other, love, compromise and much more.
try to explore some of that
