I'm not religious but certainly open minded to believe in 'something' beyond death, but I was wondering.... if the Bible starts with day 1 - when the earth was created by god.... why is there no mention of Dinosaurs??

There is also no mention of the planet Jupiter, but that doesn't mean it didn't exist.

The Bible has two purposes - God's plan of salvation, and how to live a Christ-like life.

Knowing about dinosaurs truly has no effect on your salvation or not. I hope this helped, good question and thank you.

Mahal down there makes an excellent point as well.

The Bible account of creation mentions beast or living creature depending on which version you read. Both coming from a word which means living thing. In the account of creation the Bible mentions cattle specifically and everything else generally. The general opinion seems to be that the reference to cattle is in relation to tame animals. If we take this to be the case then we have two kinds of animal i.e. tame/wild mentioned, fish, birds, beast of the earth and creeping things mentioned which will include Dinosaurs.

Here is the answer:

The Bible does talk about dinosaurs! In Job 40, the 'Behemoth' is desribed in great detail; it's description perfectly fits that of a dinosaur. Leaving aside dinosaurs, do you know of any animals which have a long tail like a cedar?
Dinosaurs very clearly did not die out 65 million years ago! The book of Job was written only a few thousand years ago! In other books, the Leviathan and the Dragon are also mentioned.
Seek the truth, and it shall make you free!

well there are many conspiracy theories about creation and dinosaurs... there is one by which that says between verse 1 and 2...commonly known as the gap theory, there were the dinosaurs ,others believe dinosaurs were created with the other animals and probably co-existed with humans which is a possibility because Job mentioned of the Behemoth and the Levithian which is believed to be an ancient crocodile if not since its said "8But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. it cud be that Dinosaurs existed before men and the days of creation were not literal days.

In the Bible there are creatures mentioned that resemble what we would call dinosaurs today. There is mentioned one that is too great to be killed with sword and spear, with a tail like a cedar tree. (which effectively rules out elephants) another behemoth mentioned with armor like scales on its back, Jonah was not swallowed by a whale as present Bibles translate. The proper translation from the ancient Hebrew would be great fish (whale is not a fish) or sea monster. If you wish I can send you the verses, I am at work and do not have a Bible or a list of them with me.
As for those who will ask how they got buried under so much rock or sediment, you only have to go to Mount St Helen's for your answer. Also they cannot explain how many fossils are buried in different layers of strata. Half in one level of rock or sediment deposits, and the rest in another layer. Either the rock and or sediment was placed there all at once, or part of the skeleton lasted sticking out of the ground for years till it was eventually covered the rest of the way.

This is why a lot of people believe that the story of the creation of the Earth given in the Bible is simply meant to represent that God created the earth, not literally explain how he did it.

Dinosaurs are mentioned in (Genesis1:20-26) And God went on to say Let the waters swarm forth a swarm of living souls, and let the flying creatures fly over the earth upon the space of the face of the expanse of the heavens. And God proceeded to create the great sea monsters and every living soul that moves about. That includes Dinosaurs, they too were living Souls!

Because the generations of creation is 1000 yrs each & in the beginning God had the earth void, & then there came a time when he did put a prehistoric life on this planet, Read Gen 9:1, & Gen 1:28 God told both Noah & Adam to Replinish the earth, Replinish means to fill it up again.

Hi Angel,
There is also no mention of Black Holes, or Bacteria. That does not mean that GOD forgot about them. There is no way in the pages of the BIBLE that every little detail needed to be mentioned. Those things that were important were mentioned. Have a great day!

Because the authors of the bible were not aware of the dinosaurs at the time they had not been found in the way they are ttoday plus they would have just thought they were dragans and would have used them to add to their fairy tales
