I live in Pensacola, FL and I have a contact at a Lynchburg, Virginia TV station that is interested in doing a series of segments on organ donation in the up-coming weeks. April is Organ Donor Awareness Month. They are looking for local individuals to feature on there morning show; receipents of an organ, someone on a waiting list, doctors, surgeons that perform tranplants, etc.

In my state, they asked registered drivers to check a box on the back of our license if we want to be a donor. Many years of this and many years the turnout is poor. Many people provide the excuse of forgetting to check the box. Therefore, I have always been an advocate of mandatory donors the instant we apply for a drivers license. Then, if you DO NOT want to be a donor, check the box on the back. I'm willing to bet many people wouldn't forget to check the box with this method and we would have many more donors.

Needless to say, I am a blood donor, volunteered to donate bone marrow and an organ donor. Now, I just have to stay healthy..lol.
