Yes is the short answer.
There are a number of reasons why this could be the case.
1) The fact that your body needs more energy to digest fatty foods and thus you have less blood supply to the brain
2) Being overweight is usually caused by not enough physical activity, thus becoming unfit - so you get tired with exercise
3) When you are heavier, it is harder to move.
4) You may not be getting enough good nutrients from you food, thus making you feel tired.
5) You may have a medical condition making you overweight and feeling tired (eg low thyroid hormone)
etc etc
Also, you can certainly get back pain from being overweight.
I would suggest perhaps swimming or bike riding as good exercise for your back and to loose weight, and eating less in general, as well as less fatty foods.
All the best,

Yes to both. Your back is probably due to the fact that your posture has gone to pot due to the extra weight you are carrying. However, help is not far away. I would suggest that you book an appointment with a chiropractioner. Whilst quite expensive I'm sure you will benefit from advice concerning your back. It just may be that your pelvis is in need realignment. Once you have this sorted then you can start thinking seriously about losing weight.
Up until a fortnight ago I could not walk a mile even without feeling drained and breathless and then I came on here and asked about fitness levels. The response (astounding ) coupled with the sound advice and which I have implemented enable me now to walk almost two miles on my treadmill thus building up my fitness and energy levels.
Take my advice as I have found so many benefits from getting fit. And I know what I am talking about as four years ago after back surgery that went wrong first time round I can walk unaided and for some distance. Still working on my balance but that will come I am sure.
Good luck and keep at it.

Yes....those are the two main side effects of being overweight. The extra weight requires more effort to move around. This is what causes us to get tired quickly. Plus with the extra weight in the belly region, there is a constant pull on the lower back, which causes the pain. So make an effort to drop a stone or two. It will make your life a lot better. Good luck

It certainly could be due to extra weight - it puts strain on your joints and your heart and lungs and, of course, your spine.
Having said that, 2 stone isn't a huge amount (I too am about 2 stone overweight - though I'm currently dropping weight - hurrah). You may be unfit - not used to that level of exercise.
If you are concerned, do visit your doctor - your weariness is almost certainly weight and lifestyle related, but you really should rule out other causes such as thyroid issues (which are VERY unlikely though!)
Cheers

Hi, let me first say that any journey begins with a FIRST STEP--the first step is admitting to YOURSELF that you might need to lose some weight. Second, step off to a doctor for a complete check up---then ask for a gude that will help with proper food choices. It is just as easy to eat GOOD as it is to eat BAD. Food is food--it can be a friend and ease us through the rough times of the day---but that is a thought you need to change--food only is food--not a comforting friend. Every remark that is made cuts deep--you need to see these insensitive people as a bug--then imagine you can squish them with a footstep--then turn and move on. Get a personal trainer at a gym--he can work out a nice effective exercise program--slow at first--but that is for safety. As the weight comes off the exertion can grow safely with your progress. Do not look in a mirror--that way you avoid the disappointment associated with not seeing the desired effects quickly. It takes time to lose weight safely. The energy you will gain will keep you busier and that means the fun of getting out and joing in on new groups and meeting new people--and that will be great---self confidence is important. Remember that millions of overweight people have successful, fun, happy lives. You need to smile and stand tall--dress nice and keep yourself groomed neatly. I am sure you have interests that people will talk about if you start a conversation. Weight is not always the reason people don't talk to others. Keep staying the course--you know you can do it--eat those favorite fruits in place of the bad stuff. Relax and smile--say hello to people and just enjoy your days---one day at a time. I wish you all the best of luck and write to me anytime if you want to chat. I am a firefighter in New Jersey..USA

Yes it can make you tired have you put weight on through over eating or not because if not it could be that you have an under active thyroid which causes weight gain and tiredness
It might be a good idea to get a blood test from your doctor who would be able to treat you

Yes that is true, although getting an hour's exercise a day with your dog is great for cardio. Maybe see a doctor if symptoms continue as your pain/fatigue could be in relation to something else???
Good Luck :) x

Yes it can .5lb extra weight on your stomach exerts 25lb pressure on you back.I feel so much better when I weigh less but I am afraid I tend to put it back on again and always regret it.I was just going t have a piece of cake ---now I won't.Keep up the walks --fresh air and exercise will help and get your thyroid tested.Mine was out of flunky and I was always exhausted and plain fat.Good luck!
