I believe it is when one definitely knows the difference between what's right and wrong. The conviction one receives in the way of guilt after doing something wrong is from the Holy Spirit. That conviction is God's way of trying to lead you away from sin and into righteousness. As you seek perfection in righteousness, the Lord will lead you to Jesus, His only Son who was given as a living sacrifice for your sins and mine. The bible states that no one comes to the Father except through Jesus, the One who defeated death through His resurrection and paved the way for us to be able to follow at our journey's end. All one needs to do is place their trust in Him. All this will follow a person who becomes fully conscious of God in their life. All the best to you and God bless.

When they are ready to pray this prayer!
Psalm 31:9-10 (N.I.V.)
Be merciful to me, O Lord, for I am in distress; my eyes grow weak with sorrow, my soul and my body with grief. My life is consumed by anguish and my years by groaning; my strength fails me because of my affliction, and my bones grow weak.

For those of us who have lived with our own wilful attitude such lamentation is necessary if we are to fully surrender our broken lives to God. With the admission of our total and absolute powerlessness the feelings of confidence in our own self reliance ebbs away (hopefully in a flood of tears), as we open our hearts and minds to God. In these verses the psalmist cast himself in mercy or favor of the
Lord. He knows that by covenant he has a right to expect the Lord to act, but his situation is so desperate that he cannot wait. His cry for mercy is an expression of deep despair. His joy in life is gone and his mental anguish has sapped his physical strength to a point approaching death.
As we look on his and our own afflictions we can easily see that these are the real enemies within our own spirit. What a joy overtakes us! Instantly we know that the Lord is trustworthy and loving and will protect us as we become willing to trust in him!
