The DVD floppy disc is an awkward way. Is it possible to do direct links, USB ports, firewire connections to external hard discs, mini-hard discs, cameras etc?

Information stored on the hard disc of a DVD Recorder transfer to another medium for viewing on a different computer. Films do not always fit on DVDs. Takes agaes to transfer anyway.

Can you rephrase your question? It doesn't make sense. Whats a
dvd floppy disc? What do you want to transfer? What are you trying to do?

Most DVD recorders have SCART and digital audio, and maybe have firewire. If you have firewire then thats the best way but its only going to work if the other device has it too. If not then you'll have to use SCART.
