Obviously the hypnosis is not effective I'd demand my money back. But seriously, it takes about 10 days for the physical addiction of nicotine to subside, as your body is trying to purge itself. After that it's all psychological addiction that you must figure out ie... the reasons you are drawn to smoking in the first place, and why you may feel the desire for another.
If you feel it's to much for you, try the patch or nicotine gum.
This will take a bit of self regulating, the idea is of course to wean yourself off the dependence.
Furthermore, you need to keep yourself as busy as humanly possible, as this will help to keep your mind off your cravings. Go jogging, your lungs will hate you for it but, it WILL keep you mindful of what your shooting for.

Oh I know the feeling I felt like someone was taking me by the head a literally screwing me into the ground, my cravings got worse as time went by but then one day I woke up and it was over, I still get cravings once in awhile, what got me threw it was wanting to do what was right, I went cold turkey as have millions that have quit smoking so you are in a great crowd with a double meaning for your endeavor will place you among those spoken of at Rev 7:9. One thing that helped me was I never thought I could quit and everyday I made it without smoking as I climbed into bed at night I was a happy camper and I thanked Jehovah for helping me make it threw each day. The times when it was really bad and I wanted to smoke all I could think of was if I did that meant Jehovah wasn't helping and I could not bear that! I smoked 3 packs a day and being a none smoker now is a blessing! In two more weeks you will hit the three month mark you will be surprised at the way you feel then the dread will turn to joy because you will be a non smoker and be able to look others in the eye when they say they can't do it and say oh yes you can because you DID IT! I would like to congratulate you on your not smoking I know Jehovah is and so are all your brothers and sisters. Agape

Hi there,

When you quit smoking through hypnosis there are often some minor side effects including emotions and quite often (and yucky) black tar like nasal discharge.

As a hypnotherapist myself I can give you some good advice based on personal experiences.

It sounds to me like one of the main reasons you smoked (or main benefits you got from it) was that it relaxed you and kept you calm. It may even be that now you are a non smoker you no longer know what to do with your hands, whereas before you had a cigerette in them.

I would recommend starting a relaxation process or using a hypnosis audio cd in the evenings (or during the day) to help you relax and feel calmed. Usually I give my clients a hypnosis cd to listen to for two weeks after the session to ensure they remain calm and focussed.

Two I can recommend are

http://musicforchange.com/cms/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=12_17&products_id=11 - a subliminal program

and

http://musicforchange.com/cms/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=27

Both of which I know get good results.

One thing you can do to get immediate results is to start breathing deeply from you stomach, i.e. when you breath in your stomach expands, and when you breath out your stomach contracts. This will help you to stay relaxed and calm.

If it helps, get the modern equivalent of a rubik's cube or a pen or something to keep your hands occupied with whilst you enjoy your new life as a non smoker!

Keep up the great work, you're doing fantastically with it!

All the best

Jason

First of all WELL DONE on giving up. You have taken a major step towards better health and we need to keep you on the right path.
Anger and agitation are signs of withdrawral and this is the most dangerous period so to speak and I can help you.
Take yourself off to a quiet room and sit in a comfy chair. Relax your thoughts and play some soft music in the background. Take deep breaths in through your nose and really "SIGH" them out through your mouth. Really enjoy letting the breath go and let go the anger with each breath.
Calm your thoughts and relax. If you drop off to sleep, that's OK, you will wake feeling restored rested and calm. Good Luck.

What you are feeling is normal. When i gave up, i had withdrawal
symptons for two years. I used to awake in the night, i had dreamt iwas smoking and used to feel ashamed of myself for
giving in. The joy of knowing it was just a dream! Persevere. it
will be worth it in the long run! Look at it this way, £3-50 per pack,
times weekly outlay, times annual outlay. What could you do with
that? Better still. think of the money in tax you are volunteering
to give to that pension steeler brown?
Good luck, don't weeken!

I was the same. I gave up using hypnosis and for the next 3 days i was a nightmare. It was worse than going cold turkey. but my hypnotist gave me a relaxation tape to listen to. I listened to that at lunchtime and before bed and the anger quickly passed.
That was 2 years ago and I've never been tempted to smoke since.
Well done for giving up. You will feel beter for it.

Don't start again, because if you do, you will only have to go through this again next time you give up. Logical hey! Best wishes, thinking of you.xxx
