I installed Windows XP Integrated with SP2 in my PC few days ago.
Actually I upgraded it over my previous windows 98.
But now i am not able to run many programs in it.Programs show error and get closed.
Please tell me any fixes for it.
Also I want to remove the SP2 from PC without formatting my windows.How can i do that as there is no option in the Add/Remove programs for it.Only one option is there which says "Windows XP uninstall"(199 MB)
The file version i used to upgrade is as follows:
5.1.2600.2180 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158)
Tell me a way out this.

i'm afraid you cannot uninstall windows XP service pack 2, if you installed it in integrated form. If you had installed it separately, you could have uninstalled it, because the SP2 uninstaller reverts modified windows file to it's old form. But since you installed it along with the windows, there are no old files to revert to.

I think you have made a wrong installation choice. Instead of upgrading win 98 to winxp you should have installed winxp on a separate partition and dual booted 98 and xp. Applications wont work after the upgrading and you can reinstall the application if you have the source CD's.
There wont be any different even if you remove SP2 or even if u remove winXP.
So my suggestion is to try to reinstall all the softwares. If some dont work you need to get upgraded versions of those softwares.

You can not uninstall sp2 from windows xp version you have. reinstall the programs that are not working. You cant go back to windows 98 unless you selected that option. just better reinstalling the damaged programs

try the Program Compatibility wizard found under
start>
all programs>
accessories
it helps run programs that were not designed to run on XP
