i want my hair to be light brown but my hair is currently really dark brown with black in it.?

I'm half asian so my hair is natural black brown ..
I've tried just dying it with light brown dye but doesnt get the results i want .. i wanted to bleach it myself but i'm too scared to do so. I've never tried to use bleach on myself.
Does anyone have any ideas what i could do or perhaps tell me a good hairdresser n the prices they charge. THANK YU !

My dad is American and married a women from the Philippines. Brought up around American kids and I was always so jealouse of the ones that had light hair.. I've always wanted that myself, but being half Asian I didnt have it. I kept dying my hair since I was 13 every couple months.. using the store bought blonde color hair dye. It made my hair like a medium brown. My hair use to be super think, but its gettin so thin now and so much of my hair has been falling out. I stopped dying it, but so much damage has been done.
Even though it costs a lot, get it done at a real beauty salon. Its free to ask for estimates on your hair, and ask for a card and write down the prices on the back. After you have been to enough places make your decision on which place you like the best and on the price

Don't bleach your own hair. It's really tricky to get the exact shade you want. Go to a salon and get it done if this is the only time in your life you step foot into a salon. I think light brown hair looks really good on asians. You shold try some highlights or lowlights too, for variety. Whatever you do, don't go blonde!

There is nothing prettier than natural black Asian hair. (I know you're half Asian, but still, I'm sure your hair is great all by itself with no help)

I am always envious of how thick and gorgeous Asian ladies have their hair ... And it seems to grow so quickly, too !
