the problem is that about 6 years ago i got a title loan and then the business closed and ive never heard another word from them. so i actually have a lien against the vehicle. the lien is for over $2000 and the car is only worth maybe $500 should i just junk the car or is it possible to sell it with no title at all

You can't sell it with no title. You need to do a title search at DMV to see what current status is, then you can decide what to do. If there's a lien, find out if it can be cleared w/ reasonable cost. If not, just declare it non-op, though if there's a lien I doubt you can even donate it.

you can apply for a new tittle and if the lien is still active it will show up. you may be able to get the new tittle cleared through the ex-owner since the biz has folded up. he prob wrote the loss off already. but you cannot transfer a tittle that has a lien on it.

GO TO YOUR LOCAL DMV AND TELL THEM YOU NEED A BONDED TITLE OR A TITLE HEARING. REGISTERED LETTERS WILL BE SENT TO LAST REGISTERED OWNERS AND LIEN HOLDER. IF THERE IS NO RESPONSE, A TITLE WILL BE ISSUED IN YOUR NAME....MY WIFE WORKS AT DMV, JUST TOLD ME IF LOAN IS OVER 6 YEARS OLD THERE MAY EVEN BE A SIMPLER PROCEDURE .RULES VARY FROM STATE TO STATE .
