The best ways are the ones least observed by most owners.

Keep your tires properly inflated... 30 lbs per tire... check once a month minimum.

Keep your oil clean by changing every 5000 kilos... or 3000 miles... it keeps the carbon deposits low inside the engine and allows the engine to run better.

If you didn't change your oil regularly, go have it flushed and clean the fuel injection system, change plugs and change the oil.

Don't carry non-needed items in the car for long periods, store things in the house, not the trunk.

Only warm up your car for 30 seconds and then get driving; yes it might be a bit chilly inside but wear more clothes. Open a window and put the fan on high to prevent fogging or frosting of the inside while the car warms under use. It warms up faster and with less wear if it is under load and being used.

Easy accelerations. If you want to race, buy a race car and go to the track.

Coast as often as possible... let the weight of the car bring you to the intersection; get off the gas much earlier... easier on the brake wear too.

If it's a manual transmission, slip in to neutral and coast... downshifting and engine braking burns fuel... idling burns less.

In the summer it is cheaper on the highway to run A/C than it is to open windows... causes drag in the airflow over and around the car by having the wind go through the car. In the city or at speeds less than 60 kmh (or 40 mph) open the windows and shut off the air conditioning.

Most is common sense I know but most folks ignore theirs.

Don't act like your at a starting line when you take off from a stop.
Always make sure your car is tuned up and working properly, such as new filters, reccommended plugs, and wires.
Try buying your gasoline at a place sells lots of gas, because they are less likely to have water or dirt in their fuel tanks.
Don't use additive in your fuel, you are more likely to clog up your valves and foul your plugs.

Hope these are some new ideas you haven't heard yet.

The article seems to have covered eerything except the extremely exotic - all of which tend to break down after about 500 mile
