Why do certain candies make the inside of your mouth raw?

I'm pretty sure its the citric acids, and the coating- ex. sours skittles has a gritty coating on it. I love sour skittles but cant eat them that often because they hurt!!

i think some candies do because ther better coated and u have to suck them stupid well thats why my mouth gets raw

I think it is the acid in those things.
