Jehovah's Witnesses are well known as door to door preachers, but they do so because Christ commanded the preaching work; when a householder "converts" it is more a benefit to the householder rather than to the preacher.
(Luke 10:1,2) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come. 2 Then he began to say to them: “The harvest, indeed, is great, but the workers are few. Therefore beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.
The bible teaches that "hell" is *NOT* a fiery place of torment, but is actually the common grave of mankind.
There is no suffering in "hell", or the grave. Sometime after the resurrection, death and "hell" will themselves be destroyed.
(Ecclesiastes 9:5) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all
(Ecclesiastes 9:10) there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol ["hell"]
(Revelation 20:14) And death and Hades ["hell"] were hurled into the lake of fire

There is a human drive to socialize. In doing so, people want to be with those who agree with them, so they may be comfortable. They feel that their religion is the truth and the exhortations of the faith to spread are what they are responding to - they are truly trying to help you. There have been so many societies whose ways of explaining creation, God, (or Goddess), or pantheons of gods - Greek, Roman, the Norse gods, Egyptian, Chinese and Japanese ruler-gods, that the word "faith" has come to separate many more than it unites, and not just from living! To study philosophy and set for yourself the guidelines you feel are necessary to life in peace would be the best way to solve the riddle. There is also atheism. (Rejection not only of any one faith or belief - but even the possibility of any divine being or deity.) Agnosticism is defined loosely as "there may be a god, there may not. I don't believe there is proof of either position." Humanism is sometimes called a religion by the Conservative Right, but it is more a name for atheism that is used to keep social and government issues secular - on the mortal, rather than spiritual, plane. I suggest a response of, "I am a student of the question. I can let you know what I find out, LATER."

Maybe you don't have to hurry in joining any religion but can rather see which religion truly fits your beliefs. I think the teachings of most every religion is founded upon sincere principles of righteousness and we should all aspire to follow whatever is good because that's what brings joy to our lives. Religions help us know what is good.
I don't think that just because a person is a member of the "True Church" that he/she will be saved nor do I believe that good people who aren't members of the "True Church" will burn in hell. But if there happens to be a religion out there whose teachings you feel are the most accurate and agreeable to you, then why not join?

Because GOD sets the rules, and those that don't heed HIS WORD are NOT of GOD.
The Bible states that if anyone tries to stress any other "testament" other than the Bible, they are a liar and their testament is nothing but lies. Such is the case of the Mormons and JW's, and so many other "TRUE" denominations.
Buddha was only a man much like Socrates, Plato or Aristotle.
Jehovah is GOD the FATHER, JESUS CHRIST is GOD the SON.
Many historians, scientists, and other scholars have turned to the Bible to prove many different things. Shouldn't that give GREAT merit to The Word of God???

*As a pagan I understand your logic and reasoning, but as a former Christian, I also understand their point of view. As you know Christianity bases their belief on the bible. There are too many passages to look up, but many passages in the bible say there is only one truth and one way and one church.
The best one to use alone would be Ephesians4:4,5,6. I want quote it word for word, but it plainly says there is one body, one faith, one Lord, and one baptism. One is one, not a hundred, not a thousand, not three, not two, but one.
Even those Christian denominations that say that the many different churches are the one, in practice do not believe this because they are always trying to get their friends co workers of other churches to change to what they are because deep down they believe their church is the one true church.
So, If a church is to be true to the bible they will preach there is only one church. That is why we are always being pestered to convert. *

If you will seek God with all you have and are, just seek the one true God of this universe, He will never fail to guide you in the right direction. I do not want to call any religious effort "wrong."
I have pretty much sought God all my life though, and read the holy books of many religions... embraced none of them at one point... embraced them "all" at a later point... and in the end, after comparing and contrasting all the holy books with an open heart... settled on Jesus, because of what He said, what He did, who He was, and how that all compares to every other person who ever claimed to be carrying a message from God.
Compare and contrast them all, is my advice to anyone who is anywhere but settled on Jesus as the one way to God for all mankind. I promise you, when you read the messages of all the holy books, you will find that they all point to Jesus as Lord and Savior. Your mileage may vary... but so did mine for many years. Keep seeking. Don't stop and stagnate -- I am still seeking even after coming to knowledge of what I believe is truth. I still seek out truth, compare and contrast other holy books to the ones I believe so firmly in now. I look for contradictions. I look for similarities. Do the same with an open heart seeking God.
All my best to you.

There are a lot of zealous folks in organized religion. I used to pick and choose what aspects of God I "thought" were important. Turns out the only one that is -Love.
Love turns everything else right side up.
I love Jesus for what He did for me. I'm not worth it, but He says I Am- you God-a love that.
As a Christian it is not my job to turn you into one- only to share what He's done for my life. Force, threats, "burn in hell"- that's not God. He's all about choice. Pray you make the right one and stop trying to analyze it to death. I'm not a college scholar, but I read, study and then use what I learn. I'm told I have a genius' IQ - but intelligence with out heart or purpose is an empty pursuit. Be blessed.

Let's look at it from God's point of view. You have a number of spirit children and you want to provide a place for them where they can grow, learn to be obedient in the face of trials, live by faith, become strong in righteous living, increase in their talents and abilities, and become saintly. To do all of these things they need to be properly instructed in all the things that are necessary. Perfection doesn't come by haphazard effort, but a concerted effort in the right direction.
To help your children you establish a Church. You give the leaders power and authority to act in your name. You establish certain ordinances as outward manifestations of their commitment to you, to goodness, and to truth. You communicate with the leaders to make sure that false doctrines do not enter in which lead the people astray from what they should be doing.
Some men decide that they have a better plan, or they do not want to be hindered by the commandments of God's Church. So, they establish their own churches. They have no authority from God to do this. They invent their own doctrines which please them, but these doctrines do not have the power to perfect or even save their members. They borrow a few principles and ethics from God's Church. They teach their children to follow their own principles, and the next generation grows up not realizing that they are not in God's Church. God allows this to happen, as it is a test which strengthens those who diligently search for God and truth.
The churches are not all the same. Sure, lots of them are like one another, but they tend to differ dramatically from the one true Church. In God's plan they will eventually be given an opportunity to join the true church, but you can't blame God if they steadfastly refuse to join Him. They aren't going to be perfected going their own separate ways.

The first answer was right. The building is just a place to worship. The religion is just a social structure. The true church is in you.

First of all.there is no hell. do you think a God of love will
have a place to torment people. God's name is Jehovah.
There is only one true religion and that is Jehovah's Witnesses.
How you know a true religion. you need to look at it;s fruits(acts by its members) eg a fine tree produce fine fruit and a rotten tree produce rotten fruit. which religion have never supported war of nations. You can see by history,Jehovah's witnesses refuse to participate in wars because their love neighbour and they are
persecuted for this till this day. because of this Jehovah;s witnesses are banned in some countries
