If so, how did that affect who you are today?

By hypocrites, I mean folks who say (and convince every single person around them) that they're Christian or whatever but behind closed doors they lead a life that is a 360 degree polar opposite that would shock the crap out of anyone who knew them.

My neighbours escaped from a cult years ago. They had to flee in the middle of the night so to speak. Even though they and their children had to go through that trauma they still are very religious. Which shows how difficult it is to let go of these things once they have taken root in your mind.

I was brought up catholic so yeah lol. It made me realize just how ugly people can be and how horrible things happen in the name of the lord. I wouldn't change any of it though. It opened my eyes. I'm very tolerant, have a lot of compassion for other people and don't sit in judgement. I believe in god but certainly not the christian god. I don't believe god to be petty or vengeful. I also don't think god would want us to waste a life by becoming a nun or priest. We were given life to live it not to bow and scrape!
