You don't fall asleep because you don't really need to sleep. But it may be unhealthy not to have some hours of good sleep - all living creatures get some hours of sleep at night or during day according to their strategy of life.

I have this suggestion: While you lay down at night in your bed wanting unsuccessfully to sleep you might try some intensive BREATHING EXERCISES. You might find some such good exercises for you in some book (fx a gyms or yoga book).

If you lay in your bed confortably and try a breathing exercise, and do it for as long as you have energy for it, it might really help you if you just believe that it will help you. As a secondary result a breathing exercise of your own choice before you get asleep may even help you to lose some of your excessive body-weight and strengthen your muscles.

Another remedy that may be good in your effort to get some sleeping hours would be a rich dish of late evening pasta (spaghetti or whatever of that sort) with a real good sauce. This may also give you some movemented dreams to remember!!

For your own sake stay away from pills - they may make you look green in your face!

Going to bed not much later than midnight and sleeping until six or seven in the morning as a habit will make you feel mentally fresh the whole day long no matter what job you have. This means that it may give you back the fiercy bright glow of healthy life. You might try this - it won't cost you any larger effort.

From the way you are talking it sounds like you are anxious and this doesn't help as far as sleep is concerned. Please stop worrying and then you will be able to get a good nights sleep. As long as you eat a balanced diet, take regular meals and get some daily exercise then you should not worry about weight. Being fit and healthy is what counts. But you have to stop worrying and getting stressed or anxious as this is counter-productive to striving for health. Try drinking camomile tea, two mugs a day, with one a couple of hours before bed time. Or if you don't like the taste, try lemon balm capsules. These help with anxiety. Also put a few drops of lavendar oil on the edge of your pillow. It can aid a arestful nights sleep. Or alternatively, take a bath with a few drops of lavendar oil in there. I am sure if you stop worrying then your getting a good nights sleep will fall into place naturally.

A magnesium/calcium (combined) tablet can sometimes help. Magnesium is the antistress mineral, and both minerals can help promote sleep. Also B Complex as this is the antistress Vitamin.

Best wishes.

Well in my case I was diagnosed a severe manic depressant which contributed to insomnia and addiction. I finally asked for help and was prescribed Zoloft and Trazadone. The longest I ever stayed up without drugs or alcohol was 12 days straight. If your anything like me take prescribed drugs but I am a pretty severe case.

Well you just need to learn to empty your mind of all of the things that is going on during the day. You need to learn to relax and just sit back and enjoy your self before going to bed. You could go out and do some fun things with your friends, and watch a funny movie. You just need to quit worrying and taking pills will not really help , they just get you stuck on them, then you have to learn how to sleep with out them anyway. So just read a little when you go to bed, or listen to some mellow music before going to bed.

Why not go to the doctor. Perhaps all these things are happening because of something neither of us know. Its hard when you are the one observing yourself alone.
