Anything with a petroleum base(ie neosporin;A&D;vaseline;etc) will draw out the color in a heartbeat! You want to use Tattoo Goo. You can get it off of their website. It's all natural and will help heal it fast. It won't clog pores, cuts irritation, cuts healing time in half. It works great!
Hope this helps and good luck!

People are all going to tell you different, being a person that is around tattoo shops and artist all the time I can tell you that you should never use A and D. It only agrees with certain people's skin. Just use scentless lotion and quit using the A and D for now, also there is Aquafor and it is really good and a lot of artist recommend that. I use regular non scented lotion and every one of my tattoos has healed fine.

Avoid petroleum based products. It will ruin your tat. I used what the tatooist provided (or sells) and had no problems, another guy who got a tat the same day, same place used Vaseline lotion and ended up seeing the Corpsmen with a nasty infection and a very messed up tatoo. You could not tell what it was after about the 5th day and it covered his bicep. Not pretty!!
Later I got another and used nothing but bacitracin on it. I also lightly rubbed the scab off of it the next day few days in the shower with a little soap and it never gave me any problems and didn't fade or run.

Well i know personally the last time i used A &D it caused me to break out so you can use THIN THIN amounts of neosporin or like everyone else use a light weight non-perfumed lotion since you want to keep the skin from drying out and always wash it before putting new thicker products on or it will cause a break out so to avoid breaking out go with the lotion if you need to worry about keeping away infection use the sporin good luck to ya

Skip the oily and heavy petroleum based stuff.
Wash it once a day with mild soap and water and use an unscented, uncolored plain lotion like Aveeno, Lubriderm

don't use anything but a&d. first off, you need to clean it with antibacterial soap at least once a day before putting on ointment. next, only apply it to the tattoo, not the surrounding skin. you are getting acne from the oil in the a&d. only put on enough to hydrate the tattoo. if you put on too much to where its shiny or gooped on, pat it off with a clean paper towel.

Not vaseline! I have been told that that also draws the ink out. If you are desperate, just put normal body lotion or body creme on it. The idea is to keep the skin from peeling, lotion will do fine, and don't itch it!!

My artist recommends Curel Ultra Healing. It's good for hands and feet too.
