The common thread in most religions, so they claim, is peace and love.. right? Cool! Where is it? Or does this only apply to those in your "club"?? You act like street gangs defending your turf. I don't get you people... Live and let live! Easy. Simple. Peaceful.

I'm an atheist and I think people need to lighten up.

There are atheists and Christians out there that seem to just want to start trouble.

Most are respectable though.

IT IS NOT IRONIC. ANYONE CAN GO INTO "religion and spirituality" CATEGORY OR ANY CATEGORY AND Q&A SLANDER AND ALMOST GETAWAY WITH IT. THOMAS A IS RIGHT AS REGARDS ACCOUNTABILITY.BUT PRIVACY IS ALSO AN IMPORTANT ISSUE.EARLIER THE CHAT CHANNEL USED TO BE VERY NASTY.IT WAS REPULSIVE THOUGH SOME VERY GOOD SOULS DID TRY TO ADD FRAGRANCE AND TASTE TO IT.NOW I DONT KNOW ABOUT IT.HERE THINGS ARE LARGELY BETTER AND IN COURSE OF TIME HOPE THINGS WILL BECOME MUCH BETTER TOO.

NOW COMING TO THE MAIN QUESTION,THOUGH WE ARE ALL NOT SPIRITUAL GIANTS,WE WOULD SURELY AGREE THAT INSPITE OF SEEMING DIFFERENCES ALL RELIGION ADVOCATE LOVE AND PEACE AND FORGIVENESS AND PEACE AND TOLERANCE.THE ESSENCE OF ALL RELIGIONS IS THE SAME.ONLY , I THINK WE DONT HAVE THE PATIENCE OR TIME TO PRACTICE THEM.THROUGH SINCERE AND TRUTHFUL RELIGIOUS PRACTICES SPIRITUALITY IS SOUGHT TO BE SLOWLY INGRAINED IN HUMAN HEARTS.TO WHATEVER SHADE OF RELIGION OR BELIEF SYSTEM OR ATHEISM WE MAY BELONG IF ONLY WE PRACTICE THESE QUALITIES THEN WE STAND THE BEST CHANCE OF SURVIVING THESE DIFFERENCES AND LEAD HUMANITY INTO AN EASY SIMPLE AND PEACEFUL EXISTENCE.

great point i agree!!! this is meant to be a great place to ask questions about one another, and also to share information, instead it is the same arguments over and over again. i wanna learn, the only folks that seem to want to share and be civil have been mostly Muslims and some great Christians, and a handful of well meaning Atheists, which i thank them for their kindness. i wonder what peoples responses would be like if personal info like a phone # or something was attached to their name, why is their no accountability? we just continue to do right, and those that don't miss out i guess. thomas

Nope, it's not ironic it is just how it is. Religious people tend to have a mean streak in them and drive the spiritual people away. What's left is just a free for all in an arena where opinions clash and everyone is under the impression that their point of view is correct. It can be fun to join in if you don't take things too seriously.

Yes, it's ironic. There is a fight between dark and light.

May God help all those that are "intolerant and nasty" as you said.
God loves us as we are, HE gives us a chance every single day...let's try t "live and let live" with goodness and peaceful.

because those areas are where most of our passions and beliefs lie. I think weve all gone a little far with "cant we all just get along" optimism. mabye its unfortunatley time to be adults with actual feelings and perceptions and to discuss them with others and see what really cuts the mustard in the end.

I agree with you there, I guess people need to learn about tolerance and they need to respect the next persons religion.

Well, if you read the bible you'll see that it promotes senseless violence, hatred, and oppression. The bible, especially the OT, is a barbaric symbol of our past. It's time to bury that old book and move forward.
