Well, I think the way you reduce your craving for food is to eat less and ignore the craving. After a while, you will get used to eating a normal amount of food. Also, restrict yourself to eating three large meals per day or six small meals (200 to 500 calories each . . . to add up to slightly less than you burn). Those represent two different schemes of eating. Small meals are supposed to be healthier, but most people overdo it by eating six normal-ish meals per day. Or, you could eat two or three bigger meals and two or three small snacks. The most important thing is to avoid eating too much. Eat until you're about 9/10ths full at large meals, because you will feel fuller after your stomach has settled. Good luck!

Maybe I'm missing the point but this is not really to do with the food, right? In which case, go and see a therapist(start with your local doctor) and get some help.
In the mean time you can try eating really filling foods, like porridge, for breakfast-eat lots, till you're full and then BRUSH YOUR TEETH.
Sounds silly, but when you're teeth feel all nice, (make a conscious effort to run your tongue round them) you won't want to spoil the feeling by eating something. I'm not saying it will stop you eating but it may give you that 20 second 'think about it moment' that helps break the cycle.
Also, try drinking a pint of water(have a bottle with you so you don't have to head to the kitchen) when you get that 'want to eat' feeling, often the body genuinely mistakes thirst for hunger.
Good luck in all respects, hope these help.

With a lot of will power try eating fruit or drinking water.
As the food digests it can cause a gap that gives the feeling of hunger. You then think, "god, I'm hungry" and eat more. It's just a habit you've got into.
In the future, if you get the feeling of hunger, certainly shortly after eating, try drinking water.
The water will fill the gap and take away the hunger feeling. If the feeling for food returns a bit later on, then eat an apple, or an orange or some fruit you like. This will then fill the gap and release some healthy vitamins from them

I crave food all the time too... I feel I am socially missing something so I eat and the food comforts what I am missing
It is not what you do but the way that you do it. I like to eat just to kind of stay alive...I wait until a crisis and I thank myself for eating my way trouble wish to comfort my losses. I really want to study or exercise and Hope to get a class or go back to gym to work off my excess calories...Get like Kristy Alley and put a gym in the living room to ride on as I watch TV... She looks good but can get better and I wish her all the best ... You reward yourself as a child with a sweet treat or some goodies...Bad system and now every occasion We got to eat...death we go get together and eat and food stations on every cornern as Americans can we say NO as children ride up and down the street they know the food signs...Can we help ourselves and just see the food and not eat the food. I imagine my social parties and it is always food.
Fixing food on TV Great Food Network add I was on a diet and food is a fixture in the great nation of ours and can we say NO

Well, you are making the choice to eat. Try to fill that void with something besides food. Determine why you are eating all the time, and make sure first of all you are eating the right things to begin with. Healthy foods. Find a hobby like drawing, reading, jogging, etc. The trick is to replace your bad habit with a good one.

i know how you feel. i can only recommend drinknig vast amounts of sweet caffeine free tea and coffee, and/or hot water with lots of lemon and sweeteners (ones not containing aspartame), and eating delicous apples and oranges or any fruit really. if you really want stodgy food have some porridge with skimmed milk and sweeteners with a little honey for flavour as its slow releasing energy. or you can make a MASSIVE salads with a low fat dressing.

It's a shame you missed Paul McKenna's recent series on Sky, he addressed the problem of binge-eating, and he has a technique for stopping yourself and to get you eating sensibly. Get a copy of his book & CD 'I can make you thin'. I think he's brilliant, I used his CD to get over my fear of flying; it was easy and it worked. Have a look on his website, or here it is on Amazon for only £5.49:
