The dentist wants to chip a larger piece off so it'll stick. It's a front tooth so I'm not sure if I just need to keep replacing the small bonding or go ahead and have him file off the edge so it's more permanent. Anyone have any advice?

depends on how particular you are about esthetics. Small fillings usually don't bond well. "filing" the tooth may cause it to look worse.
Consider doing a wider bevel to increase the surface area for bonding. I'm assuming you're using a tooth-coloured material.

Well you could get it crowned, I have two front crowns.

Here is the problem. I had both done at one time. That was fine. One broke from the back and it had to be redone. The color match was not quite right. To me the sight difference is very noticeable.

So I just do not show my teeth much even though the teeth are perfect the color is not quite right.

Natural teeth stain and change color more than crowns, so that is just something to consider.

I think I would consider trying one more time for them to correct the chip (by making it a little larger and re cementing the patch)

I have 12 crowns so I speak from a LOT of experience.

You should probably get a veener, that way you wont have to keep getting it fixed. Its more expensive but will save you numerous trips.
