Joe Brand an exeption for sure hugley funny and Ellen is funny also but maybee its not the case that women can't do it its that they don't? I have seen many on stage but have yet to see a women that is any good and most people I speak to agree on this whats it all about?

I have to add that whoopie goldberg is pretty awesome too. I loved her one woman show that she did on broadway of all the different charactors, not so much funny but I loved it. So I guess there is talented women standups but I don't suppose you see many trying to do it so much so why?

I don't find many MEN standups funny. Not since Stephen Wright. But occasionally on Comedy Central I run into a funny standup. Sometimes it's a man. Sometimes it's a woman. All depends on my mood at the time. Mostly I don't find things funny that are mean, racist, or full of expletives. Those comics that resort to swearing are hiding what's funny rather than bringing it out.

Lynne Koplitz is funny, saw her the other day. Yeah, I know what you mean. I think most women aren't into comedy as a line of work. You know what? Black female comedians (the super ghetto ones) are so not funny it's...not even funny. ;-)
